Sanya Pirani of Prior Lake, Minnesota is a 4th-grade student who has set out to raise enough money to feed an entire Haitian village for a year. The young girl was moved by a YouTube video that she saw a starving child, presumably in Haiti, and she was inspired to help make a difference.
“I saw this young girl with sad eyes and torn clothes and I thought I need to do something about her,” Pirani told MPRNews.
The goal that she needs to reach in order to feed the Letant village, in Haiti is $56,210, and so far she has already raised over $17,000.
“I’m feeding 700 people for one year, which will require $56,210,” she said.
On a website that she created, the young girl said:
I strongly believe every child deserves basic human rights like food, clothing, shelter, safety and education. I believe helping a child means helping the future of a community. Hungry minds can’t think so I’d like to go big and help feed a village of 200 people for one year through “Feed My Starving Children”. My goal is to raise $24,090 by the end of December 2015. Ultimate goal is over $56000 to feed a village of 700 people for one year.
I would also like to create awareness that anyone could make a difference in a child’s life. Remember, you give and you receive. I would like to reach out to many families to educate them on how to help kids in need. My goal is to create partnerships with many elementary, secondary and high school students. I would request my friends at the Prior Lake schools and others to join my team and help raise money for the less fortunate. Imagine the difference we could make in the world if we work together.
Now for the million dollar question: Can you help me raise money for children in need? Remember, someone somewhere helped you when you were in need. Together, we can make a big difference.
One day I would like to start my own foundation to continue to help God’s childrens in need. I would like to go on mission trips to be able to touch children’s lives.
For now, until Sanya is able to start her own charity, she will be working in a partnership with an organization called “Feed My Starving Children.”
