Christopher Wallace stole a propane cooking stove and a cast-iron wood-burning stove from a campsite in Maine’s Pierce Pond Township in January. Police in Somerset County had been searching for Wallace in vain.
He returned home on March 22 and posted on Snapchat that he was back in his home in Fairfield. Someone informed the cops, who knocked at his doors, searched the property but left empty-handed.
The dumb or probably cocky thief then posted another Snapchat mentioning that he was indeed at home but hiding in kitchen. Another phone call to the police prompted a deeper search; he was found hiding inside a cabinet. He was removed from the cabinet and placed under arrest.
Wallace was charged with burglary, theft and violation of conditions of release and taken into custody. Wallace’s partner in crime, Erika Hall, was also arrested for ‘hindering the apprehension’ of Wallace by claiming he was not home and had not been there for weeks.
