Indian Man Chops Wife’s Head Off With An Axe, Walks Streets With Her Severed Head

In a horrific incident in Pune, India, Ramchandra Sheu Chavan (53), seen walking along the street carrying an axe in one hand and his 45-year-old Sonabai Ramchandra Chavan’s wife’s severed head in the other, was arrested for decapitating her in their home.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Chavan, who works as a watchman in a housing complex, suspected his wife of having an affair with their son-in-law. On the morning of October 9, after his sons Rajesh and Umesh left home for work, Chavan fought with his wife. As things went out of control, he locked up his daughter-in-law and two grandsons in a room, beheaded his wife with an axe, picked up the blood-stained head in one hand and the axe in other, and walked towards the police post leaving local residents and passerby shocked.

Traffic cops as well as an inspector patrolling the area, reached the spot as soon as onlookers informed them of the gruesome act. When they asked him to surrender, Chavan left his wife’s head and the axe down.

He was booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. “The man did not have any mental disorders as investigated for now. He is taken into custody for murder and is being questioned further,” Senior Police Inspector M. Chavhan told reporters.
