NYPD Cops Stop Patrolling Streets, Crime Rates Begin Falling; Traffic Violations Down 94%

New York City – The New York Police Department has decided that its “wartime” strategy is to simply not do their jobs.

The NYPD made the move after two cops were killed in reprisal for Eric Garner’s death. With NYPD publicly stating they are just going to worry about protecting themselves, something interesting happened: nothing. The city didn’t erupt into riots, there is no reported crime wave, super villains have not taken over the streets of Gotham.

The pro-police media narrative fed by a constant stream of press releases from New York cop unions, associations, and fraternities basically says that because the Mayor didn’t support NYPD in the wake of the Eric Garner decision the NYPD stopped working in protest. This is a blatant lie.

The NYPD went on the wartime footing and began ignoring offenses not when the Mayor made his remarks, but when two of their own were ambushed while sitting inside of a patrol car. This isn’t a political statement by NYPD, it’s the act of a group of people who are scared. For years NYPD has been able to do whatever they want to whomever they want and suffer no consequences. More than a quarter of the people killed by the NYPD were unarmed. Misconduct resulting in a lawsuit is a daily occurrence.

There has been no counterattack from the population until now. The NYPD likes to play up all of the officers that died “in the line of duty” to justify its brutal behavior. Aside from the two officers killed in reprisal, not a single officer was shot and killed in 2014. In fact, prior to the reprisal, the last cop killed by gunfire was in 2011. Prior to 2011, the last time an NYPD cop was intentionally killed by gunfire was 2007. In 2009, there was another officer killed by gunfire but he was shot by other NYPD cops that opened fire because well… He was a black man with a gun.

In short, NYPD kills more unarmed people in a year than they’ve had officers shot and killed in the last 7 years. In the last five years, NYPD lists 25 “in the line of duty” deaths on the Officer Down Memorial Page. Only 3 were at the hands of a “bad guy,” and that includes the two killed in reprisal. The overwhelming majority of NYPD officers killed are attributed to a broadly defined “9/11 related illness.” If an officer dies of cancer, for example, and the NYPD connects that death to 9/11 then the officer’s family gets paid. They’re just looking out for their own.

The NYPD is just like any playground bully; when somebody strikes back they cry and tell the teacher. Well the teacher in this case is Mayor de Blasio who is responsible for dealing with the endless stream of lawsuits generated by the department’s misconduct. The bully took his ball and went home, but it seems nobody misses the bully or the ball.

Arrests are down 66%. Traffic violations are down 94%. Criminal Court Summonses are down 94%. There is no public outcry. There is no crime wave. The NYPD’s move just showed that all of the rhetoric about being the thin blue line between order and chaos is complete garbage. These aren’t just petty offenses being overlooked as the national media is attempting to frame it. The NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau has had an 84% drop in drug related arrests. If you believe the propaganda, this is one of those units that supposedly stops wild marijuana junkies with needles hanging out of their arm from breaking into apartments and burning down churches after they use the American flag as toilet paper. Reefer madness has not paralyzed New York.

The NYPD has shown clearly that they are overstaffed and overfunded. If they can all basically stop work without causing major issues, maybe we have too many cops on the streets. It also demonstrated that all of the talk about the NYPD being the “sheepdogs” who are responsible for keeping the wolves from eating the citizens of the city is nothing more than empty propaganda. The NYPD won’t respond to a call without two units being dispatched now. So, all the talk about them rushing into danger to save your life is also mindless propaganda. They won’t even respond to a shoplifter without two units, which means 4 officers. They certainly aren’t going to go into a dangerous situation for you or your loved ones.

The NYPD proved they care nothing about the community when they gambled with crime in the city. NYPD was hoping for a crime wave so they could pressure the Mayor. They were hoping that the people who they are supposed to protect and serve would become victimized so they could justify their brutality. It backfired. It’s time to slash NYPD’s budget and manpower. Thanks to unions playing politics, the citizens know the force doesn’t need to be as big as it is, and it certainly doesn’t actually care about the citizens of the city.

    • When a city that delusionally think they can police themselves and dont need police starts falling to even greater chaos, and justice is not met, and violence escalates, they will eventually welcome the police back in full force with a newfound appreciation.

  1. How do they know crime rate has dropped when cops arent even around to enforce the traffic codes? That makes no sense.

Of course, if you remove all police, stop enforcing laws, of course the crime rate (we know about) will decrease. Close all prisons, and we wont have any prisoners. What a measure of improvement that is?!?! (sarcasm)

Oh, I have an idea… why dont we eliminate all crime simply by making everything legal?

Seriously dude… you need to put a little critical thought into this stuff.

    • Yeah that is what I was thinking… There may be less police arresting people who did not actually commit a crime, which is a pro. But there is no way to know the crime rate without the police monitoring the streets.

      • Yeah this is just a complete(I can tolerate a small biased opinion) biased article. Not that I’m for anything this goverment dose or any part that stems from it. But this was just some guy trying to bash someone else. This Mr. King is no different from what we get slandered with everyday by fox cnn msnbc and whatever other media there is. Here I thought this website was different… I respect your willingness against the grain, but say some sort of change happens and power changes hands. Into hands like the person at the time of this article was writing. To me it would be like going from black to grey. If you want the world to be white and filled with doves you need to keep an open mind to everything regardless of your opinions and you need to respect the viewpoints of others. If you can write something that could get people to have an open mind on both sides of the story that sir is unity at its finest. This is just merely pinning one side against the other. And I will never be for that. That is exactly what lead us to the world we live in now. Anonymous if the website remark offends you don’t hack my computer please. Just expressing an opinion like you all would. I’m with you.

    • Critical thought lol after the last paragraph, I am not sure you are capable of such a thing. The police are clowns and we never needed them. The community will police themselves. We do not need the man brother. Maybe a critical thought for you grow your hair out. Live life a bit.

      • Some of the stated arguments are biased and unsupported by any actual evidence. However, strongly reduced police activity without crime increasing noticeably does support some of the statements.

      • Ghettos already police themselves… by murdering and stealing because they are entitled. Justice does not exist when you have a punk mentality. No society can police themselves fairly without an unbiased third party enforcer (which is what police are supposed to be). Any successful self-policed society only does so by electing such a force.

  2. Is this article serious or meant as a sort of ‘the onion’-style joke?
Of course the traffic violations drop, if nobody tracks and pursues the violations. How is that not obvious?

  3. City police forces using LRAD to disband peaceful protestors is a perfect example of overfunding. Overstaffed is an understatement when four officers are dispatched for shoplifting. I’ve seen what happens to people when they don’t comply with orders from police and it isn’t pretty. Even if the police aren’t justified to demand compliance, you either comply or you get beat down. That’s not justice. It’s a bunch a has been football players that didn’t go pro – taking out their frustrations on people. The same way they would bully the less athletic kids after losing a game the night before. If you’ve never been in a situation where you’ve had to comply, consider yourselves lucky. I’ve tried to seek help from the police before, and you know what I got? Nothing but a major headache. Justice and integrity in this country has been exponentially declining for quite some time now.

  4. So it looks like the criminals have the upper hand. just because crime doesn’t get reported doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Read other news sources about calls not being answered and people afraid to go out. If the people dont like the cops they can deal with the crime themselves it seems like.

  5. You are starting to sound like ORiley with all the bull S*** propaganda . Do you really think all the criminals said. ‘ Hey the cops are gone . lets take the winter off.”
I have always expected TRUTH from Anonymous Thats why I support you but you are beginning to sound like the main stream media twisting facts to sell adds —>
    Please try harder

    • No what he’s saying is that there is no coorelation between police presence and crime. It’s a small one if any. The sheer fact that someone is commuting a crime shows disregard. They are willingly breaking a law. So why would they care about cops? The cops are just as effective at stopping crime as laws. A criminal is a criminal and will commit acts of violence no matter what. Their motivation is not the lack of a law or police, just like we wouldn’t go out murdering people just because the cops aren’t around. 99.99% of people have enough sense and morals to live a law abiding life. We are not brainless animals who needs cops and government to keep us on the straight and narrow like like they’re our zoo keepers.

  6. Lol. Nyc dweller here. Noone is afraid to leave their houses. We are all quite enjoying not being bullied on the street just for walking home with our hands in our pockets.

  7. Nyc dweller here. Noone is afraid to leave their houses…. we are all quite enjoying not getting bullied and harassed on our way home from work just for having our hands in our pockets.

  8. You guys all missed the second part. If the so called crime rates prior to and after the cops ‘event’ remained consistent, than yes, you’d expect the statistics to drop right? Wrong. The public still calls 911 and reports crimes, car accidents get reported (traffic violations cause accidents right?) So as the article mentions, the city didn’t fall apart.

“The city didn’t erupt into riots, there is no reported crime wave, super villains have not taken over the streets of Gotham.”

So… only the police report crime in NY? it’s one big civilian conspiracy to not report crime? Just my thoughts on the matter….

  9. NYPD are the most corrupt in America. They are no good. They use excessive force on all races, not just blacks. Expose their pension fund corruption and you will see who the real criminals are.

  10. i think it’s understandable for people to come to the conclusion that crime would appear to drop if there are no cops around to report it. However I think people are missing the point.

Cops act like without them, the city would spiral into chaos, like the purge or something. many people don’t feel that would happen. Clearly NYC didn’t decide into chaos regardless of exact statistics, even with a near complete disappearance of all cops. The article is trying to show that we don’t needs huge number cops like they tell us we do. We only need a very small number to handle the serious violent crimes but otherwise cops shoujd ignore petty crimes.

It’s this stunt by the cops that also shows a clear philosophical problem with the way police forces operate. The have made it clear that the care more about themselves and the safety of their own, than that of the communities they protect. When a person signs up to be a cop, they sign up to put themselves at risk for the sake of others. They should be willing to take the bullet to save a life. They’re not supposed to just throw in the towel as soon as things get dangerous. The reason for this is that most cops don’t join the force to “serve and protect”. That’s just a BS cliche they live by. Most people join because it’s a high paying, easy to get, secure, relatively easy job. People who don’t have a college education,, lack any real skills, etc., see it as an easy to get, professional level job with benefits. They don’t have to go to college, they don’t have to spend years honing a craft, they don’t have to spend hours building a business in their off hours. They just want an easy paycheck. So as soon as the going gets tough, they think “I didn’t sign up for this”, and they either refuse to help, or just kill people to eliminate any possible chance of them being harmed, at the expense of someone dying who probably didn’t need to.

  11. I have a question for people on this website. In 2008 when Obama became president he talked about having a civilian army that would be under his control. Could this protestors be that civilian army? Are these protestors the same protestors for the occupy wall street movement? Who keep paying the bail for the protestors when they get arrested? Are these protestors paid protestors?

  12. I have a question for the people on this website. In 2008, when President Obama was elected he made comments about having a civilian army under his control, are these protestors his civilian army? Are the protestors from occupy wall street the same people who are protesting today? Who are supporting these protestors with money and sending them from city to city? Who are paying for the bail of these protestors?

  13. I don’t believe for a minute that the police in NYC have stopped doing their job. They are lying low because the public, whom they serve and protect have called “war” on Police. This is a page telling a story that you want us to believe. Crime would not go down, it would be out of control. And of course someone is going to say this for Police in many eyes are the enemy now, not the drug dealer on the corner or the murderer on the streets nor the car thieves. Time to step up to the plate and stand behind our officers they deserve that much. For would you put on a bullet proof vest, one which doesn’t stop the bullets flying today and protect your community? Many of you wouldn’t and yet you want to make a story reality? Sorry but I don’t believe a word of this so called “wartime”. War was started when an officer did his job in Ferguson and many officers are seeing that the public wants to make them look like the bad guys. The bad guys are the ones selling drugs to your children. And many of them would love all officers to quit. But I pray that never happens and I stand behind them. Listen to the song, Stand by Me and maybe you’d change your mind about standing behind those who serve and protect.
