In 2013, 1,000 American citizens were polled and the numbers showed that the majority of those polled wanted mandatory drug tests for members of the US Congress.
The call is a move against potential hypocrisy in which some congress people actually use the drugs they are working to keep illegal. A few years ago, a cargo ship loaded with 90 pounds of cocaine was stopped by the coast guard. It turned out the boat was owned by Senator Mitch McConnell’s father-in-law (also one of his largest financiers). Oddly, no charges were pressed.
Entering the US Congress does give an individual a semblance of power, but it doesn’t wash them clean of their dirty human urges.
Where do you stand on drugs in Congress?
This is merely an amusing idea and always has been. No one takes it seriously. Urine testing is a degrading act and everyone knows this. It is imposed on surfs for them to know and keep their place. The lords don’t lay down like the peasants they rule.
I’m in favor of it, especially of senators or congressmen from states that drug test welfare recipients. And everyone knows John Boehner is a n alcoholic, but a test would prove it. Such a person has no business in government unless he gets treatment.
