A group of firefighters arrived at the Edmonton airport and inspired thousands around the globe as they bonded through song and dance.


Wildfires – like the one exhausting resources in Alberta, Canada – can burn out the men and women who fight them. In effect, it has become a common practice to rely on firefighters in neighboring countries – and sometimes from around the world – to help put out blazes which threaten wildlife and the homes of thousands of families.

Recently, Canadian residents received more than just assistance from a team of 300 firefighters from South Africa. After a 20-hour plane ride, the workers filed into the Edmonton airport before they were each greeted by a man who had personally been forced to evacuate because of the Ft. McMurray wildfire.

Then, they enthusiastically shared a piece of their culture as they broke out in song and dance.

Members relay that music helps them bond. However, it might also be stated that the joyful celebration helped to renew faith in the prospect that the wildfire will soon be put out.

The organization Working on Fire is responsible for transporting the 300 firefighters to Canada. According to GoodNewsNetwork, the organization is known for giving young people jobs and training while providing protection from wildfires in South Africa.
