Arnold Schwarzenegger Shuts Down Climate Change Deniers in the Most Epic Way

Climate change is a fact; a man-made fact that can devastate the world’s water supplies by 2050, subject an additional 600 million people to malnutrition by 2080, and raise global temperatures up to 4°C by the end of the century. Yet, the scientific certainty has become a myth, an ideological war, a political hazard. These are some of the statements made by just two Republican presidential hopefuls in the recent past:

“The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” — Donald Trump, November 2012

“Anyone who actually points to the evidence that disproves their [global warming alarmists] apocalyptical claims, they don’t engage in reasoned debate. What do they do? They scream, ‘You’re a denier’. They brand you a heretic… If you look at global warming alarmists, they don’t like to look at the actual facts and the data. The satellite data demonstrate that there has been no significant warming whatsoever for 17 years.” — Ted Cruz, March 2015

“I’m not a believer in global warming. And I’m not a believer in man-made global warming. It could be warming, and it’s going to start to cool at some point… Obama thinks it’s the number one problem of the world today. And I think it’s very low on the list. So I am not a believer, and I will, unless somebody can prove something to me, I believe there’s weather. I believe there’s change, and I believe it goes up and it goes down, and it goes up again. And it changes depending on years and centuries, but I am not a believer, and we have much bigger problems.” — Donald Trump, September 2015

In a lengthy post on Facebook titled “I don’t give a **** if we agree about climate change,” former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger took climate change deniers to task with a brilliant Republican-proof argument:

“There are always a few of you, asking why we should care about the temperature rising, or questioning the science of climate change. I want you to know that I hear you. Even those of you who say renewable energy is a conspiracy. Even those who say climate change is a hoax. Even those of you who use four letter words.

“I’ve heard all of your questions, and now I have three questions for you. Let’s put climate change aside for a minute. In fact, let’s assume you’re right.

First – do you believe it is acceptable that 7 million people die every year from pollution? That’s more than murders, suicides, and car accidents – combined. Every day, 19,000 people die from pollution from fossil fuels. Do you accept those deaths? Do you accept that children all over the world have to grow up breathing with inhalers?

“Now, my second question: do you believe coal and oil will be the fuels of the future? Besides the fact that fossil fuels destroy our lungs, everyone agrees that eventually they will run out. What’s your plan then?

“I have a final question, and it will take some imagination. There are two doors. Behind Door Number One is a completely sealed room, with a regular, gasoline-fueled car. Behind Door Number Two is an identical, completely sealed room, with an electric car. Both engines are running full blast.

“I want you to pick a door to open, and enter the room and shut the door behind you. You have to stay in the room you choose for one hour. You cannot turn off the engine. You do not get a gas mask. I’m guessing you chose the Door Number Two, with the electric car, right? Door number one is a fatal choice – who would ever want to breathe those fumes?

“This is the choice the world is making right now.”

During his seven-year stint as governor of America’s most populous state, Schwarzenegger helped introduce strict laws aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions and combating global warming.

In the Facebook post, he also talked about how his efforts in creating a green economy bore fruit.

“Renewable energy is great for the economy, and you don’t have to take my word for it. California has some of the most revolutionary environmental laws in the United States, we get 40% of our power from renewables, and we are 40% more energy efficient than the rest of the country. We were an early-adopter of a clean energy future. Our economy has not suffered. In fact, our economy in California is growing faster than the U.S. economy. We lead the nation in manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, entertainment, high tech, biotech, and, of course, green tech.”

    • According to ipcc’s own data nearly one-third of the past ten thousand years have had temperatures greater than or equal to the temperature we are at right now. That pretty much shoots a hole in all of Àrnie’s rhetoric. I am sad to say, well maybe not. Please, feel free to look it up!

  1. It’s white privilege to think you shouldn’t have to tax the air you breathe. I mean, taxing more than half of what you earn when buying goods just isn’t enough. Vote Commie! EQUALLY BAD FOR EVERYONE!

  2. It’s not even global warming the real under laying prob is that the earths axis is shifting its like a spinning top about to topple over global warming is their excuse to get the money for the underground system they are building for the elite sad but to true

    • Wendy… Not only do you not understand the science whereof you speak: you also have little grasp of the English language. Also, as conspiracy theories go, this is pitiful. An average sixth-grader would do better!

  3. Man-made global warming? Why is it that war and warfare, enforced consumerism, Lear-jets and the disgusting self-indulgences of the filthy rich are seldom mentioned in this connection? The orchestrated anxieties about climate change are specifically targeted at those of us already having hard times in order to prepare us for ever greater austerities.
