When a basketball game is on, you don’t expect the players to break their momentum and lose focus… particularly for something not related to their game. But what happened at Lincoln Middle School in Wisconsin last year will totally surprise you.
Desiree Andrews, an eighth-grader with Down syndrome, was continuously bullied by children in the stands during a boys’ basketball game. During a time-out, Miles Rodriguez, Chase Vasquez, and Scooter Terrien stormed off the court, went right up to the bullies, and told them to stop being mean to Desiree.
“We were mad; we didn’t like that. We asked our sports director to talk to the people and tell them not to make fun of her,” Rodriguez said. “The kids in the audience were picking on Dee, so we all stepped forward,” added Vazquez.
“It’s not fair when other people get treated wrong because we’re all the same. We’re all created the same. God made us the same way,” said Terrien. “One of the kids stepped up and said, ‘don’t mess with her’. Then all of the guys got together to show her support,” Brandon Morris, who was the boys’ seventh-grade coach last year, added.
When Desiree was Interviewed about the incident, she described the gesture as “sweet, kind, awesome, amazing”. Desiree and the boys are now eighth graders, and recently played their last game in the very gymnasium that they had dedicated to Desiree – in her honor, the gym was renamed “D’s House”.

There’s still nice people among us in the world, we just need to switch them from a minority into being the majority of us. We all need each other to move forward, it’s just that some of us think they’d rather light the world on fire and take whatever’s left for their own pleasure.
i would storm up to those kids and slap their parents (figuratively speaking of course).
in the second pic you can see the bullying really brings her down.
this gives me chills. It’s so nice to know people aren’t just focusing on themselves. We need to support each other, we’re the human race! I’m so happy that middle schoolers stepped up, my sisters in 7th grade and I would hope she did the same. We need everyone to stop thinking about themselves, we have such a “do me” attitude they tend to overlook the rest of the people out there who could use a helping hand. This deserves to go viral and needs to remind everyone that we all just need to love each other. Love is so strong, bullying is sad and disgusting! (I agree with what justin says 100%) Come together people!
RESPECT bullies need to no that bullying is wrong
we are all the same no matter what( to the bullies get a life )
bullies are bullies bcos they are scared that they will not have friends
Really? “What happend next will surprise you” REALLY? Come on anonymous…
