Dallas Toddler Bids Emotional Farewell To His First Friend, His Bin Man [Video]

2-year-old Deacon Ross would sit outside his home on a camping chair every Friday, as it is bin day, for his neighborhood garbage collector, Oladele Olurunrinu, nicknamed O’Dee. On the sight of his garbage truck, Ross would shout: “O’Dee! Him coming! Him coming, him coming. Collect our garbage!”

Sadly, all that changed recently when the time came for the two to say goodbye – Ross’ first friendship got over as his family moved from their home in East Dallas to a bigger house outside of O’Dee’s route.

Deacon’s mother Summer, who is expecting her third child, told US news channel WFAA, “He’s really struck up this friendship with O’Dee and looks forward to Fridays. I think this is Deacon’s first friend [where] he really understands what friendship is. I don’t think he really understands that this could be the last time that he sees O’Dee.”

Summer made a special gift bag for the man who had so touched her young son’s heart. She took her two children out for photos with their weekly visitor to honor Ross’ first friendship.

Does O’Dee know how much the little boy loved him? “I didn’t know, but I can see it. I’m gonna miss them, too,” O’Dee told WFAA.

The unlikely pair parted after they shared a fist-bump and O’Dee jumped back on his truck. Garbage truck is one of Ross’ favorite toys. And yes, Ross wants to name his third sibling O’Dee.
