The places you go, the pictures you take, your favorite baseball team or the food that you like, all of these details can be derived off your web-based look-ups. Such information is stored and processed by Google, allowing it to process what sort of a person you are and calculate what you require. Such insights are mainly used to focus on advertisements, therefore – even more money from ads. However, these insights are also used for a little software named Google Now. This smart search algorithm knows what you want or what you are looking for and sometimes, even with an unclear query, it gives you the best of results.
For example, let’s say it’s three pm on Saturday and you have just got off from an additional shift you took. Whilst sitting in your car, you pick up your phone, poof! Google is telling you – you are fifteen minutes away from your home and there is light traffic if you take route thirty-six. But that is not it, when you enter your home, Google will then tell you that tickets for The Martian are available in your nearest cinema. It will give you alerts on your favorite baseball team, like the scores and the stats. Then before getting comfortable in your bed, you quickly find out how the weather will be tomorrow. To do this, all you are required to do is pick up your phone and say, “Okay Google.”
Naturally, our initial reaction is to assume our phones know us better than we think; however, in actual fact, these advertisement are a result of data collection:-
If you like movies that feature Tom Hanks, cheese and crazy F1 races, Google knows this information. It shows you videos that will be similar to your previous YouTube searches. Furthermore, following the algorithm, it then uses the profile to notify you about things you are likely to be interested in, such as when your favorite band is in the city or the date of the next cheese festival. Whether it was that unusual noise your bike was making, or that one time you wanted to know the time in New York, Google knows all about it; especially those crazy things you have asked it.
In simple words, as long as your smartphone is with you, it can monitor every place you visit. It does this by using navigation, your carrier network or any Wi-Fi that is available to your smartphone, to help it discover the places where you work, the area where your home is located and where your friends and family reside. It will show you your nearest bus stand. It will tell you what bus or train you can take to get to work, what day you get groceries and can remind you to take your daily walk or jog.
In order to get an improved report of you, Google keeps your lookup queries in order. According to the company’s privacy policy, Google does this to improve search results and create a better user experience. Essentially, it learns the things you like on the go and processes relevant listings, so you don’t have to dragnet for the things that you were looking for.
If you don’t like Google meddling in your everyday affairs, you can always turn it off your location history in your Google Account Settings. You can also erase your search history too. If you want to look at what Google knows about you, click here.

The thing that irritates the hell out of me is seeing ads pop up for things I have just purchased. Since I have purchased them I no longer want to see ads popping up for them all the time…Duh, wouldn’t you think???
this is true. and this could lead to more significant events in the future…
Use DuckDuckGo, people! It is as good as Google and it cares about your privacy.
