Neptune Township Police Sgt. Phillip Seidle, fatally shot his ex-wife, Tamara Seidle, 51, with his service weapon on June 16 – three weeks after the couple got divorced. Their 7-year-old daughter watched the cold blooded murder from the front seat of his car. The fatal shooting followed a violent encounter that began when Seidle chased his wife as she was driving through the streets of Asbury Park.

“As Tamara Seidle was trying to flee, her vehicle crashed into a parked car on Sewall Avenue. Phillip Seidle’s car then crashed into hers, and he got out of the car, pulled out his handgun, and approached her car, immediately firing into the driver’s side several times. Seidle’s daughter was in his car while he was shooting into her mother’s car,” first assistant prosecutor Mark LeMieux said.

Seidle is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. This is the most serious crime a person can commit,” Monmonth County Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen said after he refused to lower his $2 million bail. If convicted, Seidle faces a minimum of 30 years in a state prison without parole and a maximum sentence of life.

Tamara Seidle’s divorce complaint filed in 2013 accused her husband of “extreme cruelty” and alleged marital infidelity, failure to financially support his children and verbal, physical and emotional abuse. “In one instance, while the Plaintiff was pregnant, the Defendant held a loaded gun to her head, cocked the weapon in a threatening and intimidating fashion, with no regard to the torment he was causing the Plaintiff,” the complaint stated.

  1. Take note of Tamara Seidle’s divorce complaint: “extreme cruelty,” marital infidelity, failure to support his children, and physical, verbal and emotional abuse. All of these are consistent with, if not diagnostic of, psychopathy.

These “people,” devoid of empathy and conscience, do not belong in our police departments, our military, our government, or indeed any position in which they have power to hurt people, because hurting people is what they most like to do.

Psychopathy is incurable, and counseling a psychopath only helps him become a better psychopath — meaning a more deceptive, and therefore more dangerous one.

I do not say this lightly, but I see no solution for psychopaths other than elimination, and for all our sakes, the sooner, the better.

  2. She probably made the same mistake as many others who are now in the grave. Tried to control him in the divorce and take him for everything he’s worth. If she was another one of those? ….I have nothing more to say.
