Israeli Defense Minister: ISIS “Apologized” To Israel For Attacking Israeli Soldiers

ISIS apologizes

ISRAEL – ISIS has apologized to Israel for attacking Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers that were operating in the Syrian Golan Heights. The exchange of fire between the IDF forces and ISIS took place near the Syrian border.

Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon made the shocking admittance, using the Arabic name Daesh. “There was one case recently where Daesh opened fire and apologized,” Ya’alon said.

His reference to the ISIS apology to Israeli officers took place in November 2016. After a gun battle, four terrorists were left dead after the Israeli military attacked using airstrikes and tank fire. Technically, communication is illegal between Israel and ISIS, but the apology did happen, said Ya’alon in a speaking event in Afula, a northern Israel city.

The comment made was in context of the Syrian-Israeli relationship; Israel’s policy is, for the most part, allegedly non-interventionist with Syria.

Often times, Ya’alon explained, is the military fire spills over to the Israeli Golan Heights. It was in this case Islamic State offered an apology to Israel over the attack. The IDF, on the matter, has refused to comment any further.

The admittance of the apology leaves open for speculation that ISIS and Israel have an open line of communication, something that has long been argued to exist by Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president. The ISIS cell in question is known as the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army and operates within the annexed Golan Heights.

President Assad told YNet news that he believes Israel is helping the militants further their advancement in Syria.

“You can assume that these terrorists are fighting for Israel. If they aren’t part of the regular Israeli army, they’re fighting for Israel. Israel has common goals with Turkey, the United States, France, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other countries,” Assad said. “Israel is working on helping these terrorists wherever the Syrian army is advancing. It attacks in one form or another to provide them with assistance, and to stop the Syrian army’s momentum in the face of the terrorists.”

Last month, IDF airstrikes targeted several locations in Syria. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the IDF actions as necessary as they targeted Hezbollah weapons.

Assad further added when asked if he was worried about a pending Syrian-Israeli war that one is already occurring, “whether it is defined as the Syrian-Israeli war or not.”
