It’s unbelievable that these people do not see their actions as barbaric and illegal.
In Lebanon, a sea turtle was hurled from the sea so beach-goers could snap pictures with it. Footage has surfaced from a Havana Beach South of Beirut as multiple people dragged a female sea turtle out of the sea to beat and stand on her for pictures.
Witnesses report seeing a man pull the turtle out of the sea and throw it onto the shore, where it was beaten and stepped on. Images show pictures of a woman standing her toddler on the back of the turtle’s shell.

n Mier of Animals Lebanon stated that he spoke with a person who saw one of the beach-goers hitting the turtle with a stick. The sea turtle is suffering a cracked skull, and sea water has seeped into her sinus cavities. Without rehabilitation, these injuries would likely be fatal.
GreenArea International, a local non-profit, has witnessed several dead sea turtles in the past month, one of which was just three days ago. Thankfully, the turtle was rescued by the nonprofit and is being rehabilitated by Animals Lebanon.
Animals Lebanon is also working with Lebanon’s Ministry of Agriculture and Civil Defense to ensure that the sea turtle recovers from its injuries.
The actions of the beach-goers are not only immoral and brutish, but indisputably illegal. The loggerhead turtle is an endangered species in Lebanon, which means it’s at a very high risk of extinction in the near future. Its greatest threats to survival are a loss of habitat and less safe, undisturbed places to lay eggs. Pollution, fishing and shrimp trawling have also played a major part in contributing to the sea turtle’s status in Lebanon and internationally.
Sea turtles migrate towards the shore during their nesting season, which ranges from May through October. They will swim across millions of miles to lay eggs where they were born, which may or may not have been this particular turtle’s intentions.
The loggerhead turtle was given antibiotics and will receive further x-rays to ensure that the damage to her skull doesn’t result in permanent injury.

Allow me to explain to you how racist and ignorant you are.
To start off I am a lebanese myself, and as disgusted you are by those actions, i am too and so are the thousands of Lebanese who care.
My father participated in founding green southerns which is a lebanese group with thousands of followers dedicated towards flourishing and maintaining a green and animal-friendly lebanese environment, i invite you to check them and similar groups out and see there action and support.
If you fellow “arab” was actually what you called yourself you would come visit Lebanon and see how most people are brought up rather than learning from any bullshit source you depend on.

Those people are as likely to be muslims as they are to be christians. Either way non of those religions is responsible for those actions, nor does anyone of those that participated represent the majority of muslims or christians. I’m a Lebanese born and raised overseas and I am disgusted and appalled with such behavior and ignorance. Let me give my views on your comment in detail:

They treat animals degradingly and have no respect for them nor as we know, do they have any respect for human beings. ” — Insult is not necessary, I know you’re angry and so am I, but better to educate and change people than insult them and spread more hate I think, but good luck educating them. They have more to worry about right now with war coming towards them from neighboring Syria.
2) “Before you consider yourselves as Islamic and peace-loving, learn how to treat other living things with respect.” — Lebanon is a mix of Muslims and Christians so mixing religion into the discussion I feel is unnecessary. However what we should say is that people in general need to be more educated, loving and sympathetic towards all living things.

Perhaps a few Muslims may feel that way and that is only because of their extremist family upbringing, meaning their family train them to think that way, but I can assure you there are very few people that think that way in Lebanon.
4) “I’m an Arab but thankfully, being brought up in the UK, I have none of your disgusting characteristics!” — I myself as well have experienced some racist behavior from others in the western country that I live because of my Arab appearance, but what people need to understand is that everybody, no matter where they are from, should not be judged based on how they look like or where they are from. The same way there are some lovely white people there are also bad ones, same goes for blacks, asians, arabs etc.
I’m sure that this story could have happened in a western country and there would be some westerners that would have done the same. But what would have happened in a western country? Someone would have stood up to their actions and alerted some animal protective/rescue agency to help, and that is exactly what happened in this story as well. In this instance as you can see there are good people in Lebanon that did there part to rescue the turtle.
Perhaps what we all need to focus on is helping humanity by bringing up our children with the right attitude and guidance in love and harmony, both with each other and nature and hopefully in a generation or 2 our world will be a better place. (It’s hard to change the already older generation let alone tell them how to raise their kids, so good luck with that).

You don’t need to be Arab to be a twat, I recently read about a baby dolphin being passed around for photos at a beach in Argentina. The entire human race is unwell not just a particular group of them….

I wish humans would understand that other animals have feelings – just like we do. They process so much more than we realize.
I believe that anyone harming an animal needs to be put in jail for crimes against non-humans.
Around the world, dogs are tortured if they lose a race, or a fighting match. We know that if a human is willing to hurt another species, they are capable of hurting a human. It’s simple brain chemistry.
Perhaps Alaska or Siberia need to have penal colonies built for anyone how harms animals. The people who abused this turtle need to have charges brought against them. They need to be jailed, AND, given classes about how to care for other animals. Make them responsible for rehabilitation of injured animals.
Prisons have the dog programs – inmates learn how to love – and how to help dogs.
Lock up the offenders – make them attend classes, make them part of a rehab program – and make them test in order to be released.
Brain scans need to be done on each person to determine if they are psycho/sociopath. If they are, then don’t waste time and money on any rehab for them. They are not capable of empathy, or compassion. Those people need to be put in the penal colonies. It is known that these people are the serial killers, and corporate cut throats the world. With these people free, we cannot have order, or any kind of peace. Brain chemistry is brain chemistry and there is no way to change a psycho/sociopath’s brain chemistry. Put them where they cannot harm any being.
I personally think that if a person is caught hurting, beating, and/or torturing an animal or animals that they should have to endure the same treatment. There is far too much of this kind of crap going on and whether you think it’s wrong or not that creature is suffering and just because we are human does not give us the right, regardless of what anyone thinks animals are not here for us to do what we will with them. Have some goddamned respect for life itself. If people have respect for life we wouldn’t be so quick to kill animals or other humans for that matter.
