Darius Robinson was arrested and locked up in the Caddo county Oklahoma jail. His crime: failing to pay child support. He would never leave his cell alive. Video has been released, showing Robinson being pepper sprayed and choked to death by an over zealous Caddo county jailer. Michael Allen Smith held onto and squeezed Robinson’s neck for over a minute, his lifeless body continuing to twitch on the floor of his jail cell. Despite the clear cut evidence of murder captured on jail surevillance video, Smith has yet to be charged.
The District Attorney, Jason Hicks, has refused to comment on the case. He, like many other DA’s in his position, opted to send the case to a grand jury when he alone has the power to indict.
All too often, District Attorneys refuse to step up to the plate and make a conscious decision to end police violence and custody deaths by prosecution. Unfortunately, in the rare occasions that prosecutors do decide to indict bad cops, the cases appear to go nowhere. Such is the sad case of Freddy Gray who was murdered by police, without even having committed a crime. All officers were arraigned on manslaughter charges and the prosecutor was hailed a hero. Subsequently, all trials resulted in either a dismissal or mistrial, proving there is no justice.
When paramedics arrived, Robinson was dead. They attempted to insert a tube into his lungs multiple times, but were unsuccessful. His throat was crushed. This was confirmed by the autopsy report, which deemed the death a homicide. If his death wasn’t bad enough, Smith never told the paramedics what had happened and that he had killed Robinson by choking him to death. This was according to documents released by the Department of Health. The video shows Smith, along with another civilian employee, in the room after Robinson’s death. The civilian, identified as Vicki Richardson, attempted to do chest compressions, but it was apparent the efforts were wasted.
This incident was prompted by what Robinson’s family called, a manic episode. The video shows Robinson waving a blanket over his head and tearing up scraps of paper. Robinson had apparently calmed down and was seated on a bench, when Smith grabbed him in a guillotine style choke. At the time the attack by Smith began, Robinson was calm and did not warrant the response he received.
The single biggest factor in this case, is that there will be no repercussions for Smith; is the fact that the case was sent to the grand jury. The prosecutor has full discretion to decide which cases to prosecute. By sending it to the grand jury, he avoids the perception that he is anti-law enforcement to the people he has to work with every day. He is also let off the hook when the grand jury decides to let this jailer walk free.

I view numerous videos of unlawful killings carried out by US law enforcement & also prison staff & not once after cuffing the victims up have I witnessed anyone of them preform CPR,kiss of life,place in recovery or any medical help at all which is crazy as there all trained to do it as part of there recruitment process!!.Fortunately I live in the uk where we only have special trained Arm response units who no there be held accountable for any trigger happy shit!,hence we rarely see many unlawful kills..To be honest America I think they’ve been given the green light to show & scare citizens as over the next few years there going to take your right to arms hence all the military vehicles your seeing,fema camps to hold citizens till they reform etc,etc…For those thinking they’ll never be able to do that well they managed to get away with doing 9/11 so if they can do that believe me they can do anything!..
Even though I agree that the outcome of this was sad, you can clearly see that the inmate fought back and the guards were clearly fearful of their lives. The video even shows that at no time was he even basically touched after he was cuffed. If he didn’t want to get choked to death he should not have fought like he did. In this case iI see no wrong and you people are just digging for stories to make things worse. There are enough examples out there of police violence that you don’t have to make up stories like this one. Use your heads. Stop sensationalizing every story. You are getting as bad as mainstream media. BUllshit after bullshit. Just report the truth for fuck sake and let the people decide
You are a fucked up person, you should be threated same way. Of course he fights back, it’s natural for the body to fight back when you are in a position where you feel threatened.
The question is even he fought back, was it right for the cops to kill a person handcuffed? Could they act in a better way?
Even if ignorant people like you are trying to make a killing to sound like it was the right decision for the cops.
