The Brutally Suppressed Territory You Probably Never Heard Of: Kashmir

98

Written by: Anonymous Author (eMail submission)

You Think what happens in Gaza is the example of human Atrocity? Well, Then you should know about Kashmir. Since 1988 over 96,000 civilians including women and children have
died at the hands of the Indian army and paramilitary forces in the most brutal ways.

Their crime?

They want India to end the brutal occupation of Kashmir, their homeland. The Kashmir dispute is the oldest unresolved international conflict in the world today. Pakistan considers Kashmir as its core political dispute with India. So does the international community, except India.

India’s forcible occupation of the State of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 is the main cause of the dispute. India claims to have ‘signed’ a controversial document, the Instrument of Accession, on 26 October 1947 with the  Maharaja of Kashmir, in which the Maharaja obtained India’s military help against popular insurgency. The people of Kashmir and Pakistan do not accept the Indian claim. There are doubts about the very existence of the Instrument of Accession. The United Nations also does not consider Indian claim as legally valid: it recognizes Kashmir as a disputed territory. With the exception of India, the entire world community recognizes Kashmir as a disputed territory. The fact is that all the principles on the basis of which the Indian subcontinent was partitioned by the British in 1947 justify Kashmir becoming a part of Pakistan: the State had majority Muslim population, and it not only enjoyed geographical proximity with Pakistan but also had essential economic linkages with the territories constituting Pakistan. since 1989, India has maintained a military occupation of the Kashmir Valley by more than half a million soldiers, police, paramilitaries, and other armed “security” forces brought in from outside Kashmir.

This occupation has had all the typical attributes of any military occupation, in unusually intense and prolonged form. For most of the last 25 years, the Kashmir Valley has been under various flavors ofde facto or de jure martial law, with soldiers everywhere, army camps next to every village, checkpoints on every city block, curfews, house to house searches, legalized arrest and detention without trial, and official suspension of many of the norms of democratic governance and civil liberties.

Since the departure of the principal non-Muslim population group, the Hindu Pandits, in the 1990s, essentially all of the remaining population in the Kashmir Valley — other than the occupation forces — has been Muslim. That has allowed the Indian forces to define the entire valley as a free-fire zone in which the Kashmiri Muslim population is considered and treated as the enemy: presumed to be either “militants” or their sympathizers, and fair game for summary killing. Military and paramilitary forces have effectively complete impunity for any actions against civilians, which have come to include systematic torture of detainees, rape of civilian women, collective reprisals (against families, neighborhoods, and villages), shooting to death of children who just are too young to understand anything, and attacks targeting medical personnel, human rights activists, and
journalists.

To put the death toll in perspective, this month the Kashmir Valley has suffered from its worst natural disaster in a century: a 100-year flood that has killed perhaps 500 people. But on average, several times this many  Kashmiris have been killed by Indian “security” forces in Kashmir every year for the last 25 years — a total of at least 96000 out of a population of around 7 million people in the valley.

Below is the statistic that saw the Indian brutality in Kashmir,
according to Kashmir Media Service:

Women gang-raped/molested 10,055

Women Widowed 22,767

Children Orphaned 107,450

“As the conflict in Kashmir enters its fourth year, central and state authorities have done little to stop the widespread practice of rape by Indian security forces in Kashmir. Indeed, when confronted with the evidence of rape, time and again the authorities have attempted to impugn the integrity of the witnesses, discredit the testimony of physicians or simply deny the charges everything except order a full inquiry and prosecute those responsible for rape”. (Asia Watch and Physicians for Human Rights, May 09, 1993)

“Since January 1990, rape by Indian occupation forces has become more frequent. Rape most often occurs during crackdowns, cordon and search operations during which men are held for identification in parks or schoolyards while security forces search their homes. In raping them, the security forces are attempting to punish and humiliate the entire community.” (‘Pain in Kashmir: A Crime of War’ issued jointly by Asia Watch and
Physicians for Human Rights, May 09, 1993)

“By beginning TV cameras and prohibiting the presence in Kashmir of the International Red Cross and of human rights organization, the Indian authorities have tried to keep Kashmir out of the news.” (`Kashmiri crisis at the flash point’, The Washington Times, by columnist Cord Meyer, April 23, 1993)

“(On February 23, 1991), at least 23 women were reportedly raped in their homes at gunpoint (at Kunan Poshpora in Kashmir). Some are said to have been gang-raped, others to have been raped in front of their children … The youngest victim was a girl of 13 named Misra, the oldest victim, name Jana, was aged 80”. (Amnesty International, March 1992)

“The most common torture methods are severe beatings, sometimes while the victim is hung upside down, and electric shocks. People have also been crushed with heavy rollers, burned, stabbed with sharp instruments, and had objects such as chilies or thick sticks forced into their rectums. Sexual mutilation has been reported”. (Amnesty International, March 1992)

“The worst outrages by the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) have been frequent gang rapes of all women in Muslim villages, followed by the execution of the men”. (Eric Margolis, The Ottawa Citizen, December 8, 1991)

“While army troops dragged men from their homes for questioning in the border town of Kunan Pushpura, scores of women say they were raped by soldiers….a pregnant Kashmiri woman, who was raped and kicked, gave birth to a son with a broken arm.” (Melinda Liuin, Newsweek, June 24, 1991)
[Anthony Wood and Ron MaCullagh of the Sundav Observer (June 02, 1992) estimated that over 500 Indian army men were involved in this orgy of rape and plunder in Kunan Pushpura.]

“The security forces have entered hospitals, beaten patients, hit doctors, entered operating theaters, smashed instruments. Ambulances have been attacked, curfew passes are confiscated.” (Asia Watch, May 1991)

“Subjugated, humiliated, tortured and killed by the 650,000-strong Indian army, the people of Kashmir have been living through sheer hell for more than a year, the result of an increasingly brutal campaign of state repression. India hides behind its carefully-crafted image of “non-violence” and presents itself in international forums as a model of democracy and Pluralism. Yet, it is unable to stand up the scrutiny of even its admirers. All journalists, especially television crews, were expelled from the Valley. With no intrusive cameras to record the brutalities of the Indian forces, the world has been kept largely in the dark.” (The Toronto Star, January 25, 1991)

“Young girls were now being raped systematically by entire (Indian) army units rather than by a single soldier as before. Girls are taken to soldier’s camps and held naked in their tents for days on end. Many never return home….Women are strung up naked from trees and their breast lacerated with knives, as the (Indian) soldiers tell them that their breast will never give milk again to a newborn militant. Women are raped in front of their husbands and children, or paraded naked through villages and beaten on the breasts.” (The Independent, September 18, 1990).
October 26 is coming, and it’ll mark 67 years of India’s brutal occupation of Kashmir. I request you Anons to share this issue with the whole world, and make the world realize that Kashmir needs their attention. While India celebrates its freedom on 15th August, Kashmiris are caged. Curfew is imposed, the internet and other modes of communication are snapped. We are really living like slaves in our own homeland.

The Great Firewall Of Censorship In China

7

Written by: Rhinostril

As you may or may not know, China has extremely strict regulations on basically any form of online contact with the western world. The developers at GreatFire are releasing FreeWeibo this might just be what a technological revolution needs to start a virtual fire.

Censorship in China

As a Belgian author with little or no restrictions on my online freedom, I cannot begin to imagine how it must feel knowing that there is an entire world governmental diplomats forbid you to discover.
Sites like Google.com,Twitter.com,Facebook.com,Bbc.c.uk,Wikileaks.org,Youtube.com, vimeo.com,Bing.com and remarkably thetibetpost.com, more about that in a sec.
The following was said during a 2 hour long interview by an expert in Chinese censorship who has been locked up in china on his holiday for telling people the truth and questioning the authorities. He wishes to remain anonymous as these impressions and statements could be harmful when traced back to him. This is the essence and I did paraphrase his words so some of it may seem out of context.“The good people of China are among the most indoctrinated I’ve ever seen, nothing about the way they defend their government seems somewhat genuine. It looks like they are wired to have a sense of hatred  toward the Tibetan people. They are continuously lied to by the government at every opportunity they get and they are censored themselves on Sina Weibo, the government-controlled social network. I got arrested when interviewing a local police officer who felt my behaviour was unethical and downright evil. When in custody , I had the chance to talk to inmates who had been through roughly the same thing. In our cell block, there were no murderers to be found, no rapists nor psychopaths. We were all just asking the wrong questions at the wrong time and place. The stories I heard were those of Tibetans getting captured for vague reasons and released after two months and all of these prisoners were found dead 1 year later and no one could link those deaths to the Chinese anymore due to the leap in time. I was struck with fear and hatred toward the Chinese people who just keep on living their lives and who don’t question the authorities. This censorship is of course a violation of the human rights and organisations such as amnesty are trying their best to fight this. It almost seems ridiculous how openly they abuse freedom rights for example Liu Xiaobo Who won the nobel prize for peace (because of his work on fighting the government) whilst in captivity, oh the irony .”

FreeWeibo.Com

GreatFire is a secretive organisation that monitors the censored messages on Sina Weibo and posts them on freeweibo.com for the world to see. The activists think that the way they made the app renders it impossible to be blocked by the government. They hope that will show others an effective way to avoid Chinese internet restrictions, whilst furthering their goal of ending online censorship in China. GreatFire was founded in 2011 by three guys who wish to remain anonymous in fear of  China’s revenge. So how did they bypass the internet restrictions? They hosted FreeWeibo on amazon’s cloud hosting service, It cannot be blocked because of the businesses that rely on amazon . If blocked , too many businesses would suffer from economic losses and the Chinese government can’t have that. This gives Greatfire an epic advantage almost like a bank heist with an enormous amount of hostages being held. The mobile app was taken down from the app store in reply .
GreatFire hopes that the android version cannot be taken down (as easily) and furthermore that amazon doesn’t make any deals with China (so far they have kept quiet and respected their customer’s privacy when asked about FreeWeibo). Their plans for the future include mirroring Free news sites such as The New York Times. This will prove to be a far bigger challenge because this site get updated frequently and is quite huge as well. “Our goal is to end online censorship in China. That’s the endgame for us,” says one of the founders of GreatFire. “And we won’t rest until we have achieved that goal.”

Designing the Marionette: How Your Government Molds You Into the Perfect Puppet

10

Written by: AnonDiVinci

Through the use of media propaganda, fear and the threat of rejection; governments have manipulated their citizens into “following orders.”   They manipulate the premise of free choice while feeding fear.  They do this to make you the citizen feel as though you are making your own choices based on “real information.”

None of this is new.  In fact, the concept itself is discussed by the masses.  The information is presented to them.  They discuss it, research it, find condemning information…yet still choose to ignore and dismiss it.  It leaves those that are intelligent scratching their heads.  After all, how can we present them with proof and they still dismiss it?

Think about this for a moment.  Since the time we are in elementary school, we are taught based on a curriculum.  We are taught to follow popular thinking.  Basically, we are taught to follow the masses.  In fact, if you intelligently think outside the box, educators are quick to label you as someone who “just doesn’t get it” or “doesn’t understand.”  They are also quick to call you out in front of your class to make your peers look at you as though you’re stupid or crazy.  This in turn fosters a fundamental belief that you MUST follow the herd.  You must believe what everyone else believes or you will be labeled as crazy or stupid, and reject and dismissed by your peers as a “conspiracy theorist.”  We are shaped and molded into this way of thinking from the very first day we enter a classroom.  They remove individual thought and replace it with an eagerness to “fit in with society” to avoid the rejection and label that comes along with thinking for yourself.   This part of the process is a very simple concept.  The concept is to use the human mind’s natural need for social acceptance against us.  It is after all, the most powerful psychological need of the human mind.

The second part of the process is just as simple.  Through misinformation or in other words, providing only information they want us to know, along with education techniques, they effectively “dumb us down.”  The reasoning is simple.  A person who lacks intellect or at the very least feels they do, is less likely to question what they are told.  They believe that the people they see as authority are smarter than they are and as such feel that they have no place to question what that authority says.  What’s worse is that if you are too close to being right and too close to the truth, you will then not only be labeled crazy but in some cases…a terrorist or criminal.  It is a double edged sword in which the enlightened lose.  You are either made to feel stupid or crazy, or you are made out to be a criminal.  Either way, the attempt to ruin your credibility is present.

The CIA has a project called Project MKUltra which outlines and studies the process of mind control through behavior modification.  Essentially they’re rewarding preferred behavior while punishing behavior that is not preferred, and fueling behavior with the use of crafted information.  You can read more about Project MKUltra here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKUltra .  On a side note, you may be surprised to know that a portion of MKUltra (created in 1956) involves genetically modifying seeds for the purpose of testing and mass distribution to aid in the process of mind control.  I digress however, that is for another day and another article.

At first you may be thinking that I’m referring exclusively to the United States because of my reference to the CIA.  This couldn’t be further from the truth.  Governments all over the world use similar tactics to obtain and keep power over the citizens.  Those of us, who have taken the time to research, also know that the CIA is involved in practically every government throughout the world.

Today we see the implementation of the Monsanto Protection Act, which protects a company that creates genetically modified seeds.  It also protects them from competition when it comes to the seeds used in farming.  This assures that their GMOs get mass distributed throughout the world.  One may think that the seed a farmer in Asia chooses to use shouldn’t be a big deal.  However consider that countries that have refused Monsanto seeds have been faced with losing the ability of international trade with the United States.

We also see the implementation of what is known as Common Core in our youth’s education.  Many teachers have even described Common Core as the standard to make children feel stupid.  Common Core essentially takes a simple problem (such as 9+6) and expands it into something so advanced that many college graduates with advanced degrees cannot understand it.  They take this standard and apply it to grade school students.  To learn more about how Common Core plays a role in all of this, check out this video that not only outlines the inefficiency of Common Core, but also how it’s being used to control the minds of our youth, in an attempt to create government obedient citizens at an early age ( http://youtu.be/d1Ubjg_o8vg ).

In the end we are talking about “dumbing down” citizens so that they are less likely to think for themselves, revolt or question, thus creating puppets or sheep who blindly follow their shepherd to the slaughter without question.

These things are never more documented than on social media.  On social media websites such as Facebook, there is no shortage of examples.    Through the use of fear tactics, citizens have become overly sensitive.  Through the sense of entitlement, citizens have become easily offended and weak.  Ignorance is preferred over intelligence and research.  More people are likely to form an opinion based solely on a sensationalized headline than to actually take the time to read the content within.   Patriotism has been redefined as “Do whatever your government tells you.  Anyone that doesn’t is a terrorist.”  There are literally more people willing to give up their freedoms than there are people to defend their freedoms.  They have been conditioned to think that anyone who is not willing to do the same is crazy.  As a former soldier, I was once told that I should join ISIS by people who claimed to be patriotic.  This was simply because I understood that someone has the right not to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Wrapping this up, let me say that this is not a shot at religion.  This is simply an example to put things into perspective with regards to how brainwashed people actually are.   People have been taught from an early age that there is a man in the sky.  You can talk to him.  No one has ever seen him.  No one has ever heard him speak.  There is literally no real proof of his existence.  You can ask him for things and in the rare occasion you get what you ask for, it’s a miracle.  When you do not get what you ask for, which is usually the case, it’s his will.  Even though they’ve been taught that everything is his will and he is the creator of all things…when something good happens he is credited for it and when something bad happens, another entity is blamed.  People believe this, base their entire lives around it, fought and died for it and will fight tooth and nail over it.  On that same note, if you hand them undeniable proof that their government has manipulated them, molded and shaped them…they will look at you as though you are a crazy conspiracy theorist.

This is the behavior the government wants.  As Maximilien Robespierre said “The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant.”

Eminem, Ice Cube and Korn Team Up with Anonymous to Call For Global Revolution

45

Probably, it is  the most insane music video you’ve seen in a long time. Eminem, Ice Cube and Korn are teaming up against the corporatist totalitarism, meaning against the greedy bastards of financial world, who are also the targets of the occupy movement and against police brutality, police state and totalitarian governments who are, once, supposed to be the leaders of freedom and democracy.

Check out the video below, and keep in mind the Worldwide Wave of Action  begins on April 4 at “former occupation sites around the world.”

Director of FBI Wants Access To Encrypt User’s Data Of Apple & Google

20

Written by: NiRA

The FBI director has banged Apple & Google for offering their users encryption technology that protects users’ privacy. “Deeply concerned” James Comey wants to push on Congress to “fix” laws to make sure that the police can still access private data.

James warned:-

“It’s the equivalent of a closet that can’t be opened. A safe that can’t be cracked,” Comey, speaking at the Brookings Institute in Washington DC, referred to the encryption technology calling the new service “a marketing pitch.”

“But it will have very serious consequences for law enforcement and national security agencies at all levels.”

Apple has recently launched its latest version of Mac OS X operating system for desktop and laptop computers, urging its users to use FileVault disk encryption technology to keep their data safe and secure. This tool will also stop NSA or FBI from getting access to phones and computers.

Google mentioned that it wanted to follow suit with its Android operating system and encryption will be enabled by default.

If a user does not refuse the encryption offer, his or her computer or phone will be locked

This means that the companies will not be able to unlock a phone or a hard drive to reveal photos, documents, e-mail or recordings stored inside the device.

James said:-

“Criminals and terrorists would like nothing more than for us to miss out,”

James said, adding that encrypted information on

“A bad guy’s phone has the potential to create a black hole for law enforcement.”

“Justice may be denied because of a locked phone or an encrypted hard drive,”

Though law enforcements would still be capable to intercept conversations, it will be impossible to access call data, contacts, photos and emails.

James believes that encryption threatens to lead all of us to a very dark place, whereas the companies argue that it is a compulsory option which will protect users from unlawful surveillance and private data access.

Edward Snowden’s exposures have triggered the US tech companies to find better protection for personal information.

James acknowledged:-

“The post-Snowden pendulum has swung too far in one direction—in a direction of fear and mistrust.”

He said:-

“Some believe that the FBI has these phenomenal capabilities to access any information at any time—that we can get what we want, when we want it, by flipping some sort of switch,”

“It may be true in the movies or on TV. It is simply not the case in real life.”

The director of FBI would like to see changes being made to the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, or CALEA, enacted 20 years ago—a lifetime in the internet age.

Companies like Apple and Google, should be necessitated to make a lawful intercept abilities for law enforcements.

James says:-

“We aren’t seeking to expand our authority to intercept communications,” he said. “We are struggling to keep up with changing technology and to maintain our ability to actually collect the communications we are authorized to intercept.”

CALEA only include landline and cellphone companies, broadband services or internet phone services, which connect with traditional phones.

James stated:-

“We also need a regulatory or legislative fix”

“So that all communication service providers are held to the same standard”

James’s speech was not the first time when he criticized Apple and Google for encrypting smartphones. Back in September, he told reporters in Washington that the encrypting technology offered by the companies, which is powering about 95 percent of the smart phones in the Unites States of America, severely hinder law enforcement operations.
