Reported Sex Offences Against Kids In UK Increase By A Third

The number of reported sexual offences against children in the UK has risen by a third.

That’s according to a new report from the NSPCC which claims the number of recorded offences against children in England and Wales has gone up to 31,000 this year – a rise of 8,500 from the previous year.

Scotland and Northern Ireland also saw a significant increase in recorded offences.

While these statistics may seem grim, it is believed that this is at least partly the result of police efforts to encourage victims of abuse to come forward. The report states that on average 85 offences were recorded by police every day over the past year, and suggests that many high profile cases of child abuse of the past few years has done something to increase the rate of victims coming forward.

The increase in incidents recorded by the police has coincided with an increase in contacts to the NSPCC helpline and ChildLine about sexual abuse. However the charity said neglect ‘remains the most common form of child abuse in the UK’. The report stated: ‘While child sexual exploitation is dominating the media, it’s important to remember that neglect remains the most common form of child abuse across the UK. We need to continue to gather evidence into what works in tackling neglect.’ Adding that ‘support must match this increased willingness to speak out’, adding: ‘Victims of child abuse need more therapeutic support, and age-appropriate support at every stage of the criminal justice process.’

  1. No surprises here really look at the huge numbers of girls groomed and raped by Pakistani Muslim gangs (predominantly) in towns and cities although the real numbers will be much higher.

Its a shame the police and social services turned a blind eye to it for so long as they are shit scared of the racist card being pulled out.

Parents need to be vigilant and make sure that they have access to their kids online social media accounts and know where the kids are. Too many parents let their children run wild without knowing what they are up to.

The kiddie fiddlers should be castrated.

  2. Shocking info, thanks. I notice there is participation on your posts and articles just judging by the lack of comments. Why do you think that is? The time factor? Cheers.
