These days, public display of affection on social networking sites — such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram — has become a norm. You seek approval from your virtual friends and allow them to comment on your personal life; you boast about your relationship status online to come across as the ideal couple. It ay be that you post photos of your romantic moments to show you have an amazing love life; you leave no stone unturned to announce to the world how much you love your partner. You are so addicted to documenting your love story through cheerful, perfect-looking status updates online that you forget to check in on each other in person.

Sounds familiar? Well, showing-off your love on any online platform (a relationship doesn’t last in real world with the entry of a third person, right?) has the power to destroy your relationship. “Relationship Status: Online” is a short film that addresses the risk of using social networking sites to let others get a glimpse of your personal life through a couple who keep updating their relationship status online, letting everyone know what’s happening in their private nest.

The 11-minute film shows Jen frequently sharing her relationship status online.  From her first date to dinners at home, and holidays, everything seems like a fairy tale for the couple, until one day the guy argues, tries to separate Jen from her social media addiction, asks her to pay attention to their relationship, and when she resists, they fight. Things soon start to get out of hand when Jen starts sharing their disagreements and confrontations on social networking sites.

What will happen to the social media dependent relationship? Will it survive the storm, or crumble under pressure? Will they stick together or fall apart? Watch the beautiful video, let the mystery unfold, and, in the process, learn a lesson or two about how to protect your real relationship from the prying eyes of the Internet…
