Vince Vaughn recently spoke with the British edition of GQ magazine, where he speaks plainly about his views on liberty in America.
The interview began by discussing Vaughn’s role in “assembly-line comedies,” however it was the next three topics of conversation that got the media buzzing.
On the American government:
“Edward Snowden is a hero. I like what he did. My idea of treason is that you sell secrets to the enemy. He gave information to the American people. Snowden didn’t take information for money or dogmas. Governments claim to write endless laws to protect us, a law for this, a law for that, but are they working? I don’t think so. The consequences are that there is a staggering loss of freedom for the individual. I look at the drug wars and they are absolutely f***ing ridiculous. There is a black market and the prisons are overcrowded and it’s not preventing drug use. There’s a corruption that goes all the way to the top.”
On the American right to own a gun:
“I support people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home. We don’t have the right to bear arms because of burglars; we have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government. It’s not about duck hunting; it’s about the ability of the individual. It’s the same reason we have freedom of speech. It’s well known that the greatest defence against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back. All these gun shootings that have gone down in America since 1950, only one or maybe two have happened in non-gun-free zones. Take mass shootings. They’ve only happened in places that don’t allow guns. These people are sick in the head and are going to kill innocent people. They are looking to slaughter defenceless human beings. They do not want confrontation. In all of our schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these f***ing schools because they know there are no guns there. They are monsters killing six-year-olds.”
On whether guns should be allowed in schools:
“Of course. You think the politicians that run my country and your country don’t have guns in the schools their kids go to? They do. And we should be allowed the same rights. Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat. Taking away guns, taking away drugs, the booze, it won’t rid the world of criminality.”
In an interview with Playboy last February, Vaughn described himself as “libertarian.” No matter what, he not only “shatters the status quo-supporting the Hollywood paradigm, but he obliterates the Left/Right paradigm as well,” as those at True Activist put it.

It’s TIME we all say what were Thinking…
Thanks Vince!!!
Ok, our government need a major overhaul and a major forced retirement of all those paid for puppet politicians! The 1% need to share the wealth with those that have made them rich through their labor! And our tax system needs to be the same for everyone not just taken from the poor and middle class. No more paying other countries to be our friends, if they aren’t then get out of that country and cut off all trade and talk with them. Stop waring in other countries where we have no business being!
Amen Brother! Amen!
well the first paragraph made a lot of sense.. unfortunately the second and third bundled off into a whirlwind of shite wtf is he on about!?
Tristan, you obviously need to learn to read because everything in all the paragraphs make absolute 100% sense and obviously, you missed the whole point. I agree with SirCinch, it’s way overdue for all americans and people of the world to come together and open their mouths and speak up and do something to help humanity as a whole instead of being a bunch of self righteous ignorant group of ignorant people who can only complain and use their right of free speech only to condemn those that have the guts to stand up and speak the truth. You as well as the rest of the population that decide to keep quite are the biggest problem we face as humanity and things will only get worse as long as people like you are allowed to open your mouth for ignorant purposes. WAKE UP PEOPLE AND COME TOGETHER AGAINST THOSE THAT OPPRESS US!!!!
You know what vince wud be right about the guns if the goverment u wer fight had gun …they dont they have an army of meatheads with more fire power than u could imagin so to say guns are our right and are to b used against currupt officials …lol you try pullin a gun on a currupt polotician see wat happends …. and yer about the guns in schools please explain again why thats a good idea other than “theyre doing it !”
You must work on grammar and spelling to be taken even a little bit serious dude. Even in your name you spelled “common” wrong, and that’s NOT common sense. If you’re doing it ironically you should still work on how you say shit because you sound dumb as fuck.
The bull shit laws in america.
Only stupid words, sort of a punk stupid get some spotlights !
Chumpy eternal adolescent.
Ok. Give more Americans guns. Might help with the planet’s overpopulation issue.
We are reassured by the powerful that in todays world it is imperative that every freedom loving country owes its citizens protection from wanton criminals both foreign and domestic and this requires arms.
When Edward Snowden and others exercise their democratic obligation to inform the general public of the lawless, murderous behaviour of our own agents and armies in other peoples countries, The Powers That Be quickly demonstrated their own deceit and hypocrisy by severely punishing them.
With this in mind, the sooner the rank and file in every country prepare to at least hinder the ever advancing totalitarian assault upon the few remaining freedoms we still possess. This resistance should, of necessity, include all and every means at our disposal.
Like,Vince ! Like his comments.
On the spot. Thank you, final the voice of reason. The only problem is its too short. Do you touch on other issues as well; banks, big business, human rights, environment, trade and/or foreign relations.
We in Europe have a better philosophy. No guns – no shootings. Works just fine (Syrian immigrant crisis aside, of course). In America it won’t work, because you are taught to be paranoid, so you can be easier to manipulate with alarmist news into giving up the most important value Christianity had to offer: love of your neighbor, treating him as you would have him treat you. Paranoid people need guns so they can shoot other paranoid or psychotic people, because this is how paranoid people want to be treated. Trump is only the latest wiseguy who wants to take advantage of this innate flaw of the average American.
Not sure that’s accurate. There’s been plenty of shootings in Europe, as well as bombings. Google “list of Europe shootings” and find the camparison data of mass shootings for each country. The U.S. is not as high on the list as one might think.
Good on Vince! Anyone looking to ban guns, go away slaves. And this is coming from an Australian who is SICK of this victim disarmament BS. Obama is praising Australian laws after the 1996 attack in Australia? Well they undermined self-defense far more than just taking the guns.
