In order to upgrade some of its public-safety related technology, part of a $2 million police technology upgrade the council passed last year, the City of Paradise Valley has installed cameras in cactuses around town.
Kevin Burke, Paradise Valley Town Manager, told FOX 10, “The town is embarking on the installation of license plate readers. The cameras are designed to check vehicle tags against a database of stolen cars or those connected to an AMBER alert. Not trying to hide anything. This was my request of – before we get going at these one at a time, let’s get them all together and make sure we understand and everybody is on the same page. The reason the cameras were placed in cacti is that the town was trying to make them more visually appealing than erecting a light pole. It probably is fair. This is technology, we’re always learning about it, and so every time you think you’ve got it covered someone brings up a new idea.”
“We want to make sure we’re answering everybody’s questions about data retention, how the things will be used, we want to make sure that is vetted before we turn these things up,” Burke said when asked if the cameras were functional.

I live in AZ we have a lot of illegals that cause trouble and we hang gangs and then the illegals that bring drugs over here. We have a lot of people on drugs and gang wars. This isnt that bad also…. there is a big difference from the cactus and that fucking thing you actually have to be retarded to not see a difference in that instantly.
