Recent reports on AnonHQ have covered the brutality that has occurred in the city of between the Turkish state and the Kurdish citizens. Police brutality is only one ‘slight’ incidence amongst the war and fighting that is occurring in the streets against innocent victims.
Now people have risen up. Thousands of people are now marching to Diyarbakir where the worst is occurring. Marching from the Kayapinar, Yenişehir and Bağlar districts, the uprising people wore the masks of those guilty of the Silopi and Cizre massacres. Diyarbakir – also known as Amed’s Sur district, has been under siege for 92 days, with a 24 hour curfew imposed by the Turkish state.
Although the intention by the thousands is to break the dictatorial environment and end the siege, armored vehicles, tanks, and water cannons have met the crowds. It’s also been reported that the Turkish state intercepted some of the protestors in their march at Yenişehir district.
Clashes continue to break out between state and citizen, as teams of police scour the city armed with gas canisters and plastic bullets. Slogans such as “PKK is the people and the people are here,” are being chanted in the protests.
Co-President Demirtaş, of the HDP (the Kurdish people’s democratic party) has stated, “Our people must be resolute. The aim is not a one hour protest. We are trying to break the siege of Sur.”
Some districts, including the worst hit city of Diyarbakir, have been under 24 hour curfew since the PKK peace deal with the Turkish government collapsed in December.
