Three Policemen Brutally Attack Michigan Man Without Reason

On January 28, Floyd Dent charged with resisting arrest, assault and possession of cocaine and was detained in Inkster, Michigan. The charges had no criminal history and appeared odd considering Dent had worked at Ford for 37 years.

A video of the arrest of Dent shows an image that is a lot more disturbing. It shows Dent being hauled from his car, put in a chokehold and hit 16 times in the head. Dent was likewise Tasered three times:

After the video was seen by a judge, the charges of resisting arrest and assault were promptly thrown out. Dent faces drug possession charges.

Following the beating, Dent was hospitalized for just two days, treated for injuries to his face and his head. According to his lawyer, Greg Rohl, Dent bleeding on his brain along with endured a broken orbital bone.

All the officers were white, though Inskter is a primarily African American suburb of Detroit.

Wednesday protesters gathered at the Inkster police station, as well as the crowd comprised a former Inkster police chief who says his former section should just be closed down.

The dashcam video reveals Dent pull over to the right or left side of the street. His door opens and is pulled out of the vehicle by two policemen, who shove him to the pavement. Based on The Associated Press, Melendez maintains when he believed he saw Dent, the situation escalated. There were no weapons discovered in the vehicle. Melendez also said on the earth during the battle, Dent bit him on the arm. Dent denies biting at Melendez.

Dent also denies those accusations, as well as the sound of these minutes is unavailable. Dent told the Free Press the policeman shouted, “Get out of the auto! I will blow your head off!”

“When someone is beating your face, you are going to shield yourself.”

A judge, the AP reports droped charges of fleeing and resisting arrest.

The policemen are on administrative responsibility, authorities said.

The policeman seen striking Dent in the head, William Melendez, was charged with seven other Detroit policemen with planting evidence, falsifying reports and lying along in 2004, according to The Associated Press.

Gregory Rohl, Dent’s lawyer, told the Free Press the video demonstrates policemen planting the crack cocaine. The drug charges against Dent continue to be pending. He didn’t test positive for drugs following the arrest.

Dent endured an orbital fracture and bleeding on the mind, his lawyer told The Detroit News. Dent spent in the hospital.
