“This is the 21st century. If we use our resources wisely, there’s no reason why anyone shouldn’t have what they need.”
Woody Harrelson might be best recognized for starring in box office hits such as ‘Zombieland’ and ‘The Hunger Games’, but he’s also a celebrated activist who, in the past, has promoted a plethora of issues that demand attention such as environmental responsibility, plant-based eating, and corruption in the government.
In fact, not only did Harrelson introduce a non-wood, tree-free paper to the market, he hosted Ethos, a powerful documentary aimed at encouraging the public to engage in ethical consumerism, in 2014.
Discussing his accomplishments and convictions, he told The Guardian:
“We live in a completely corrupted world where every government is just a bunch of businessmen working for a bunch of bigger businessmen and none of them give a shit about the people. The sad fact is no one knows how to change it, because no one knows how to take on the corporations. So I guess we’re stuck with this system until the oil runs out.”
Now, in less than two minutes, Woody is again speaking out about corruption within the system and asks the public to take responsibility for their choices and actions in this world.
RealFarmacy relays that the actor explains how every individual has the ability to utilize their power and support the type of world they want to live in. Corporations may own the government, which in turn affect mainstream media and the kind of propaganda the public is exposed to, but consumers vote with their dollar and have real power to enact change – if they so choose to.
He eludes to this and more in the video below.
The transcript of his speech follows:
“We get into the habit of buying junk fast foods that have no actual food in them. We buy gallons of poisonous household cleaners when one degradable soft soap would do. We are poisoning our homes and wasting our hard earned money for no good reason. Why? Because the advertising industry tells us to. They just want you to buy stuff.
For example, if a company pollutes the environment or uses bad business practices, if you don’t buy their stuff they would change; if you don’t want food with chemicals or GMOs in it, then don’t buy it. The minute we start taking responsibility and spending our money wisely, every politician, every corporation and leader around the world is gonna know that we have woken up.
This is the 21st century. If we use our resources wisely, there’s no reason why anyone shouldn’t have what they need. There is no reason, whatsoever, why people are still starving to death on our planet. The common man or woman whether they are Israeli or Palestinian, Protestant or Catholic, Iraqi or American, common man just wants to live in peace and justice in a clean environment.
When we look around the world and we see that that is not the case, we know that the will of the majority is not being listened to. That’s the first sign that our system is broken. Government won’t make these changes for us; yet again it is down to the common man.
No company will continue a practice or product that you, the consumer, will not buy. It’s vitally important that you understand this because this gives you ultimate power to change the world you live in.
Companies are extremely sensitive about you buying their products because if you don’t buy their stuff, they go out of business. That’s not something many companies are willing to consider and by choosing to spend your money wisely you can promote those companies that do business in a socially responsible way.”
Thank you, Woody Harrelson, for speaking out about issues that matter and for using media in a constructive way to positively influence the masses.

Many of those buying choices have been completely removed from consumers. The government takes that money and then decides what is best for us and that is why the system is broken, the consumer has been removed from the vast number of the most important spending decisions and are even having future government debts levied upon us as though we ever had a choice.
He is RIGHT! Many police officers are using anabolic steroids for their muscles to grow extremely. Anabolic steroids are forbidden substances, but many police officers use them to get bigger.
The same police who told us, what we should or should not do.
Is the same police, who works for the government… The same government, who LEGALLY sells the highest addictive drugs as alcohol and nicotine.
So the meaning is, that the police is working for biggest drug dealer-your government.
There are NO DOUBTS, that if alcohol and tobacco was ilegal, there will be millions of people alive right now. Maybe your friend, who use to sit beside you… Or your parent. They will be here.
Dont blame the police. Blame your government.
Look what the boycott of BP did after the Gulf oil spill. They’re all but bankrupt now, because the public voted with their wallets. Thank you for using your position to effect responsible change, Mr. Harrelson.
BP is not bankrupt.. like where are you getting your info from. They may have sold their Alabama plant. In 2016, BP sold its Decatur, Alabama, plant to Indorama Ventures, of Thailand…. but they probably own in part that company too. They just did this to hide their logo and name so all you sheep go back to grazing.
