Video: Footage Exposes Ohio Deputy For Lifting Autistic Man Into The Air & Slamming On The Floor, Killing Him

A long video has been published by the Washington Post; in the footage a man is seen being assaulted by a Deputy in Mount Vernon, Ohio, in April 2015. Sadly, the assault ultimately led to the man’s untimely death.

The incident involved a Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Deputy- Chase Wright, who it is said could not tolerate the victim- David Dehmann, when Dehmann tried to play with him. The officer therefore proceeded to lift Dehmann high into the air and slam him violently to the floor. The damage obtained by the hard blow to the head was the cause of Dehmann’s death.

Reportedly, Officer Wright is now being investigated. Dehmann was said to be autistic and had Tourette’s syndrome, both conditions were apparently well-known by the local law enforcement.

The incident, as narrated by the Free Thought Project, began when the Mount Vernon police picked up Dehmann for being intoxicated. Within a couple of hours, after he had been cleared by a hospital for release, Dehmann was released. Later that same day, he was arrested near a public school for disorderly conduct – harm to self, at which point he was taken to Knox County Jail.

When he reached the jail, the officers began to gave him some instructions, this is where the surveillance camera started recording the incident. The video started when Dehmann was being completely cooperative with the officers’ orders. He maintained this cooperation throughout the booking process.

He is seen helping the deputies remove his clothes and his shoes. At one point, he even playfully pats one of the deputies on the back. Most of the deputies in the room seemingly laugh it off as an innocent autistic man being silly because he’s drunk.

However, Deputy Wright was not enjoying Dehmann’s jokes and decided to show how aggressive he can be towards the weak man. As Dehmann walked past the officers he pointed his finger at them, but never made actual physical contact.

When he reached where Deputy Wright was he pointed his finger, just like he had done to the other officers, but he was swiftly met with physical retaliation. His hand was slapped off. Dehmann then reached toward Wright’s face. Wright reacted by sidestepping, then lifted Dehmann up into the air and slammed him to the ground. His head hit the hard floor. The officers handcuff Dehmann once more, but then noticed that he was unresponsive and called for an ambulance. After two days at the hospital, Dehmann passed away.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, “While Dehmann was in the jail’s intake area he became aggressive with the jail staff making an aggressive move towards Deputy [Chase] Wright. Mr. Dehmann did attempt to hit Dep. Wright in the face causing Dep. Wright to place Mr. Dehmann into a takedown hold, taking him to the ground to get control of him. Once control was gained it was found that Mr. Dehmann had hit his head on the floor during the incident. Mr. Dehmann was transported to KCH ER by Mount Vernon medics for a medical evaluation.

For Dehmann’s family, emotions of overwhelming sorrow and devastation have taken hold. Dehmann’s step-mother, Melissa, said “He might have had his issues in the past and everything, but he didn’t deserve to die because of this.

I want to know what happened when my boy’s head hit that concrete. I want to know what happened,” his father, David A. Dehmann, also added.

  1. Living in Europe – also not an ideal place to be – I will NEVER visit the USA, in spite of the fact that it had its leading role in the world. I could be killed everywhere by cops, be it at a road stop, in the street or even in a restaurant or a hotel. There may be good cops around, that’s true. But one cannot see the difference because they all wear the same uniform. It is really disgusting how more and more good people are slaughtered by bad police – who allways get away with their crimes. The justice system in almost every country in Europe is sick and dying, but in the USA it’s non existent.

  2. That big fat bastard just looked as though he was itching to have a go big bully and i bet the government won’t do anything to get justice for the poor guy. i feel for his parents and hope that something is done about police brutality.

  3. Fuck those pigs . Where are the white people in that town protesting that bs.
Do white folk have any spine left . If that was my son I would be in front of that pig station with a protest sign 24 / 7 . WAKE UP PEOPLE BEFORE IT’S TO LATE!!!

  4. (5:18) player time. it looked like Dehmann was pointing at the officer and then the officer slapped his arm… being a mother to two autistic children I will say when they are under stress, or have a anxiety rage its best to let them cool off before touching them… they can become violent. since officers knew of him being autistic they should have known this….

  5. LET A MOTHER TOUCH MY CHILD LIKE THAT AND I’LL SHOW HIM WHAT ASS KICKING IS ALL ABOUT

HERE SOME PEOLE IN MY FAMILY THAT WOULD BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM STARTING WITH ME
