Yet it’s still classified as a “drug with no medicinal purposes”?
States in the US may be one step closer to legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, especially now that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) has updated its website FAQs to include studies proving cannabis as a natural remedy for cancer.
As InfoWars reports, NCI updated its page to include various studies revealing how cannabis “may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow” while also protecting normal, healthy cells.
NCI stated:
“A laboratory study of cannabidiol (CBD) in estrogen receptor positive and estrogen receptor negative breast cancer cells showed that it caused cancer cell death while having little effect on normal breast cells. Studies in mouse models of metastatic breast cancer showed that cannabinoids may lessen the growth, number, and spread of tumors.”
The full list provided by the National Cancer Institute follows:
- Cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow. Laboratory and animal studies have shown that cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells while protecting normal cells.
- Cannabinoids may protect against inflammation of the colon and may have potential in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and possibly in its treatment.
- A laboratory study of delta -9-THC in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells showed it damaged or killed the cancer cells. The same study of delta-9-THC in models of liver cancer showed that it had anti-tumor effects. Delta-9-THC has been shown to cause these effects by acting on molecules that may also be found in non-small cell lung cancer cells and breast cancer cells.
- A laboratory study of cannabidiol (CBD) in estrogen receptor positive and estrogen receptor negative breast cancer cells showed that it caused cancer cell death while having little effect on normal breast cells. Studies of metastatic breast cancer showed that cannabinoids may lessen the growth, number, and spread of tumors.
- A laboratory study of cannabidiol in human glioma cells showed that when given along with chemotherapy, CBD may make chemotherapy more effective and increase cancer cell death without harming normal cells. Studies showed that CBD together with delta-9-THC may make chemotherapy such as temozolomide more effective.
These studies are considered by the NCI as preclinical. They were all done using animals. According to them, no clinical trials of cannabis use for the treatment of cancer in humans have been published. - Delta-9-THC and other cannabinoids stimulate appetite and can increase food intake.
- Cannabinoid receptors have been studied in the brain, spinal cord, and nerve endings throughout the body to understand their roles in pain relief.
- Cannabinoids have been studied for anti-inflammatory effects that may play a role in pain relief.
That’s not all, in April, the NIDA stated:
“Evidence from one animal study suggests that extracts from whole-plant marijuana can shrink one of the most serious types of brain tumors. Research in mice showed that these extracts, when used with radiation, increased the cancer-killing effects of the radiation.”
How can government agencies conclude the above and the FDA still classify marijuana as a “drug with no medicinal purposes”? Perhaps this video will enlighten you on the reasons why.
Despite the numerous, proven benefits of marijuana, the federal government aims to keep it illegal while the FDA approves expensive prescription drugs with more side effects and far less research.

I have read about this recently. As a chronic pain sufferer with Fibromyalgia and lower back pain, I am on a cocktail of prescribed drugs which certainly do have unpleasant side effects. You can legally buy CBD oil but it is very expensive, although I would imagine not nearly as expensive as the cost of prescribed drugs. I think I will be investing in some in the near future, so will let you know if it works for pain. As a person who’s both parents died from Cancer it could be a health benefit for hopefully keeping me clear from that too! 🙂

just CBD alone may not be enough. then all the cannabinoids including THC are together like they should be, the effectiveness is increased drastically
I too have chronic back problems. For me, weed does not get rid of the pain per se, but rather changes my brains perception of it. It still hurts, but it doesn’t bother me as much.
Pam have you tried extracts at all, or ingesting it? I find if your gonna smoke it your better off with a vaporizer!

I was introduced to Phoenix Tears, oil extracts from marijuana while visiting family in Colorado. There is no man made prescribed medication that even compares to the help Phoenix Tears can offer. Write congress and demand the prohibition on marijuana to end. The government has no right to withhold natural medicine from the US populous.
I have been taking legal CBD oils for over a year and they do not do nearly any justice to what the entire cannabis plant contains. It’s like comparing a non-alcoholic beer compared with a regular beer. In time we should see the US legalizing this drug. Let the people decide.

I started taking cannabis less than a year ago for lifelong depression and anxiety. I am also an alcoholic and a breast cancer survivor. My depression and anxiety are cured. I stopped drinking and have no desire to put that poison in my body again, my cancer has not returned, and my arthritic pain is much lessened. I smoke it but prefer to vape and eat when possible. Those of you still pussyfooting around this medication because of the stigma or because it is illegal,lol, are digging your own grave. This is Gods medicine and everyone can grow it and access it for free. Why do you think big pharmaceutical companies who rape you of your money want it to stay illegal? Think for yourselves people.

I’m a believer. I have gotten my Mom on water soluble BioCBD and had given out bottles as Bday gifts.
