Man Refuses To Open The Door, Vancouver Cop Smashes Car Window, Drags Him Out

He gets pulled over by Canadian cops, refuses to roll down the window, asks the police why he had been stopped – his car window is smashed and he is physically assaulted and forcibly removed from his car as an answer.

“Hit the brakes you moron. Open the door,” the unidentified Vancouver sergeant is seen as saying in the video. “Sir, why have you pulled me over?” the driver identified as Bodhi Sattva replies, refusing to comply with the officer’s order. “I’m not playing this game. You’re under arrest. I’m gonna break the window now in two seconds,” the officer warns. “Why am I under arrest? You have to tell me why I’m under arrest. Why are you intimidating me?” the motorist asks through the partially open window.

The officer tells the driver that he can smell marijuana coming out of his car. “You do not smell marijuana in my vehicle,” the driver says. A second officer appears, confirms the marijuana smell and tells the driver he is under arrest. The motorist then tells the officer he is on the phone with his lawyer. The officer threatens to break the window again while Sattva says he does not consent.

The officer proceeds to smash the window and physically removes the driver. According to the Vancouver Police Department, the driver was charged with “possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purposes of trafficking and obstructing a police officer”.

In a blog post, Sattva claims, “What happened that night was a violation of my constitutional rights. I don’t deserve to be treated this way, no one ever does. The officers found marijuana in the vehicle, I am prescribed cannabis for medical purposes and was licensed under the (Marijuana Medical Access Regulations)”.

Paul Doroshenko, a lawyer from British Columbia, a specialist in handling cases of impaired driving, said, “You can’t blame this individual for it. He’s being polite and cooperative. You can blame the police for their attitude. There is no justification for this type of behaviour. If we start allowing behaviour like this we might as well not even have a constitution”.

Doroshenko added motorists are under no obligation to open their doors when asked by police. “Ultimately what they do is, in my view, an unlawful arrest, smashing his window, destroying his property and it looks like a violent arrest”.

The police reportedly said that if drivers don’t want their windows smashed in, they should just cooperate with police. Do you agree?

  1. Yeah i totally agree, and blacks that don’t wanna be mauled by dogs should just submit to the fugitive slave act,
Un-taxed cigg salesmen also deserve death in the swiftest way possible for the top crime of denying the government precious dollars in extorti… err tax revenue
Police forces were a huge mistake of 1890 and should be abolished as they currently exist

  2. I do agree, that could have gone a lot smoother if he had simply followed the cops orders. at the beginning he seemingly let go of the brakes and the vehicle had gone forward a little, I then believe the cops got a little jumpy from that and then everything happened.

  3. I think this is bs. He’s right the police clearly violated his rights. They didn’t tell him what he did wrong or why he was being detained, they destroyed his property. Nothing new here though every cop has seemed to have forgotten our constitutional rights.

  4. Things would have gone better if he had obeyed the cop from the beginning. If he had done what the officer said this whole thing could’ve been avoided.

    • You want him to just accept getting arrested for a crime he doesn’t even know he committed because the officer wont tell him?

    • People like you are what’s wrong with our society. Soon we’ll all have to produce our papers on demand and submit to arbitrary searches because, well, we should just do it because a cop demanded it. Apathy is our downfall.

    • You obviously are an idiot. For one God created weed not a man made drug. 2# He has a medical marijuana card which gives him prescribed access to weed through our government. 3# Smoking weed doesnt male you a drug dealer. 4# How much tax money is wasted on throwing people in prison for selling or smoking weed when real criminals who hurt people get 2 years and walk free..

  5. The police didn’t violate his constitutional right at all. First the guy rolled forward on the cop bc he was paying more attention in video taping it then anything, which btw you can do because you are technically driving and that is against the law to use your phone. So first the office is nervous it’s going to turn into a chase. If the officer smells drugs obviously he’s going to arrest him, does not matter the guy has a license to smoke it he’s still impaired while driving. Even with a cannabis lisence you cannot smoke and drive. This whole thing would have just been over and done with if he has listened to the cop and rolled down his window from the start. The guy got the cops back up first rolling on him, then defying him, and filming it.
People want to bitch and complain about the police but when they need help who will they call?
The cop was doing his job, he didn’t punch the guy in the face he didn’t shoot him he didn’t break a bone, he broke his window and dragged him out because the guy was fighting him. End of story.

    • What you said is bull. Yea the guy shouldn’t have rolled forward a Lil but the cops do not have any right to smash your window. The police cannot just walk up after pulling you over and demand you open your door like that. They cannot just smash your window either. He asked why he was pulled over and the police refused to answer. The cop smelling weed makes no diff because the cop had to have a reason to pull him over in the first place. That citizen did everything right! And he wasn’t driving when using his phone. You obviously do not care about our rights whatsoever. You sound like Hitler

    • Spoken like a true jack-boot. Why don’t you go shine your soiled badge and buff up your night stick. I’m sure you’ll be making great use out of it while on your beat roughing up the general populace who refuse to sniffle at the hems of your trouser cuffs.

  6. He was talking like he was drunk or high (forgot the brake, talking wierdly and slow,), plus he was telling police that they can’t smell properly: “I smell marijuana coming out of the vehicle” — No you do not…
If a police officer thinks he smells marijuana (and 2nd police officer confirms) you are to comply to investigation since they’re doing their job. They won’t rape you if you open the door you know? He would also be endangering others if they left him drive the car while high. And, he was refusing to cooperate at all…well, I think all of this is justified. I don’t see anything wrong police did here.

    • They had no reason to handle it that way. The guy didn’t sound drunk or high at all. The cops walked up and immediately told him to open his door without telling him why he was being stopped or anything. They sure didn’t stop him cuz they smelled weed! They can’t just tell u to open ur door and the article even says that you don’t have to open your door legally speaking. The cop had no right. If he smelled pot he should have handled it the correct way. You sound like Hitler too. People, even if they are carrying weed, still have rights!

  7. This guy in the car sounded like an ignorant prick to me. I think he got what he deserved. At the end of the video he rants something about being federally exempted? I don’t think it was to far. He just finished telling them that he wasn’t smoking marijuana, and then gets caught with it. He should have told them he had medical license when they said they could smell it, then roll down the window and show the so called license.

    • The fact is, that police officers have an OBLIGATION to tell what is happening to you, whether it’s a fine, ticket, or arrest. The person on the car may have instigated what happened to him; but he has the rights to be defensive, with questions that is. The police officers shows no sign of maturity or respect. “I’m not playing games” he says, but he’s not even doing his own job right; he’s doing a lazy job, cutting corners, trying to reach quotas faster maybe. One thing I’ll leave on, is that these actions resemble something similar to Hitler’s private military police. Just take the conflict one step further with bloodshed and an equally unprofessional officer, and there you have. Canadian Nazi’s.

  8. Every vehicle should have a list of people’s rights taped to their driver side windows to remind them. Doubt it’d work, but better than nothing.

  9. Cops suck !!! There is no reason why they need do anything of the kind . Just shows cops think they have all the power they want .. fuck the police !!!!!!
