NYPD IP Addresses Linked to Attempts at Censoring Wikipedia Entries on Police Brutality

The NYPD has been caught red-handed censoring cases of police brutality against American citizens on Wikipedia entries. Up to 85 IP addresses have been linked to its servers at 1 Police Plaza, and cases such as  Eric GarnerSean Bell, and Amadou Diallo were just a few of its targets.

One edit changed “Garner raised both his arms in the air” into “Garner flailed his arms about as he spoke. ” Another edit changed “push Garner’s face into the sidewalk” into “push Garner’s head down into the sidewalk.” Twice the mysterious editor changed “chokehold” and “headlock” into “respiratory distress”, with other alterations recorded here and here.

Despite a medical examiner ruling it a homicide, Officer Daniel Pantaleo was not indicted by the grand jury on the 3rd of December, 2014. That very day, the “Death of Eric Garner” page on Wikipedia was altered from IP addresses traced back to 1 Police Plaza.
