Trump Issues Three Executive Orders Bolstering the Police State

Donald Trump appears to be intent on writing his own laws, as he continues his barrage of executive orders with three new ones aimed at strengthening the police state’s grip on the populace. Under the guise of being “designed to restore safety in America,” Trump appears content to establish his own alternative facts supporting a mythical spike in crime rates across the country.

One of the big tasks put forth in the order was the creation of the Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety. The goal of the task force is to come up with new strategies aimed at bringing down the incredibly out of control violent crime rate in the United States. However, when one looks at real facts, one can easily see that crime rates have been on a massive down slope since the 1970s, with only a minor uptick in 2016. The slight uptick brought the crime rate back to 2012 levels, which by any standards, are minuscule at best.

“I’m directing Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to undertake all necessary and lawful action to break the back of the criminal cartels that have spread across our nation and are destroying the blood of our youth and other people,” Trump exclaimed to the press earlier in the week. “It’s a shame what’s been happening to our great, truly great law enforcement officers. That’s going to stop as of today.”

Trump’s statement in regards to police was a reference to the second Executive Order he signed for the police state, which fundamentally gave federal, state and local law enforcement the ability to charge people with enhanced penalties for crimes committed against officers. This means anyone charged with resisting arrest or assault on a law enforcement officer, two charges which are blatantly exaggerated and abused by cops daily, could put an innocent person (only guilty of pissing off the police), behind bars for years. This order does nothing to make police more safe, it only opens the door for greater abuses of power.

“Yeah, those three executive orders are pretty much right out of the National Fraternal Order of Police playbook. The sum total of those three orders means massive new resources going to law enforcement on the federal, state and local level. The order that has to deal with police officers, that you were mentioning, really is the beginnings of what we’re calling a blue lives matter regime,” stated Vincent Warren in an interview with Amy Goodman for Democracy Now. “We’ve been seeing this in states where there are increased penalties that people—criminal penalties for assaulting, sometimes even insulting, police officers, the idea that—built on the idea that if you’re black or if you’re gay or if you’re a woman and someone assaults you, that it is worse and there should be penalty enhancement for that. We’re seeing that for police officers, which doesn’t make sense.”

The third order is basically a green light for a massive increase in funding the law enforcement across the board. It is truly sad that we live in a world where the President of the United States can make up his own facts and then attempt to pass law, without Congress, to enforce belief in these alternative facts. Fortunately, for the moment, we have a judicial system which is seemingly intent on stopping Trump from executing anything that is in violation of the constitution. Thankfully a challenge to these orders is almost a certainty.

  1. to the families of the murdered , raped and robbed the per capita rates mean nothing.. it is 100% when your the one with the loss. We have no police state in America. We have police and we have those who are contemptuous of laws. these two groups encounter each other constantly myself . Parents and schools should raise adults not children. the goal is an adult not a child when they reach the teen years. if you want to limit the need for these types of laws , you must raise your children with discipline and an understanding of restraint in behavior
