A Billboard With A Powerful & Eye-Opening Message About Starvation

0

Sometimes the simplest things can have the most impact. In this case, it’s a billboard with a powerful message. Standing tall at the Southeast corner of Wells and James Lovell, across the street from the Milwaukee Public Museum for the month of February and again for the month of July, this billboard reads,

“3% Of U.S. Military Spending Could End Starvation On Earth.”

Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Well, unfortunately it’s true and it really shows where the priorities of those in charge of America’s worldly affairs lie. A group of Milwaukeeans and other US citizens have chipped in to put up billboards such as this one in an effort to raise public awareness about this huge elephant in the room that no one seems to be talking about or addressing — the insane amount of funds allotted to the US military budget. These billboards are certainly giving people something to talk about.

Let’s Talk Stats

In 2008 the United Nations announced that $30 billion per year could end hunger on the planet. As of 2019, the annual Pentagon base budget, plus war budget, plus nuclear weapons, plus the Department of Energy, plus the Department of Homeland Security and all other military-related spending totalled around $1.25 TRILLION. So if you are wondering where the 3% statistic came from, 3% of $1.25 trillion = $30 billion.

Organizations World BEYOND War, Milwaukee Veterans For Peace and Progressive Democrats of America have all contributed to the making this billboard possible.

“As veterans, we know that endless wars and the Pentagon’s corporate hand-outs do nothing to make us safe. We waste hundreds of billions of dollars that would be better spent on pressing needs like education, health care, and averting catastrophic climate change. Educating and reminding people of the true costs of war is a primary mission of Veterans For Peace. We are happy to be a partner in this effort by World BEYOND War.”–Paul Moriarity, President of Milwaukee Veterans For Peace

There are billboards and other big ads going up in many cities across the world, including Limerick, Ireland, Alaska, Lansing, Michigan, Schenectady, NY, and Pittsburgh, PA. In the past ads were placed in Toronto, Canada, Syracuse, NY, Baltimore,  ML, Charlottesville, VA and many other places. This incredible organization has also put out ads through Facebook advertising all in an effort to get the conversation started about the possibility of a world without war.

World BEYOND War

This statement is from the World BEYOND War website:

“World BEYOND War is a global nonviolent movement to end war and establish a just and sustainable peace.

We aim to create awareness of popular support for ending war and to further develop that support. We work to advance the idea of not just preventing any particular war, but abolishing the entire institution.

We strive to replace a culture of war with one of peace in which nonviolent means of conflict resolution take the place of bloodshed.

World BEYOND War was begun January 1, 2014. We have chapters and affiliates around the world.

While public opinion has moved against war, we intend to seize this moment to crystallize that opinion into a movement that spreads awareness that war can be ended, that its ending is hugely popular, that war should be ended as it endangers rather than protects — and harms rather than benefits — and that there are steps we can and must take to move toward war’s reduction and abolition.

War is not ending on its own. It is being confronted by popular resistance. But too often that resistance takes the form of denouncing one war as unacceptable (in contrast to theoretical good wars), or opposing a war because it leaves a military ill-prepared for other wars, or rejecting a weapon or a tactic as less proper than others, or opposing wasteful military spending in favor of greater efficiency (as if the entire enterprise were not an economic waste and a moral abomination). Our goal is to support steps away from war and to spread understanding of them as just that — steps in the direction of war’s elimination.”

Is A World Without War Truly Possible?

Of course! Anything is possible and the fact of the matter is that most of us would much rather see a world without war, but we do not believe that there is anything we can do to stop it. Given the fact that over 50% of Americans believe that 9/11 was an inside job it certainly makes one wonder, how is it that the US is able to justify the ongoing wars that essentially started because of this event? Fear plays a huge role in this.

The way I see it, war is an absolutely archaic practice, and it blows my mind every time I think about it. Is killing one another with bombs, drones and guns really the best solution to solve the world’s problems? Of course it’s not! But unfortunately psychopaths run our world and convince us using fear tactics that war is happening to protect us. As long as we believe and buy into these lies and fear one another, the more these heinous acts of senseless violence will continue.

As the saying goes, “fighting for peace is like f@*king for virginity.”

Thankfully organizations such as World BEYOND War exist, to at least get the conversation started about war. Hopefully, enough fellow humans will eventually stand up for what’s really right, put down their weapons, cease fire, stop enlisting into the military, and stop supporting it. We have a lot more power than we realize.

Official Website of Royal Family “Accidentally” Linked to Hardcore Rape Porn

0

As the British Royal Family attempts to deal with the aftermath of a series of scandals, news sources in London are reporting that a link on the family’s official website “mistakenly” redirected users to a Chinese website that hosts extreme pornography, which reportedly featured links to rape and incest videos along with other hardcore adult content.

Since the links were funneled directly through the official royal.uk website, the adult content somehow managed to evade the strict child-lock filters that the UK government placed on this type of material a few years ago.

The royal.uk website is intended to provide news and information about the royals as well as their charities and upcoming events. Recent visitors to the site noticed that the Dolen Cymru charity’s official website was listed incorrectly, and instead of taking users to the actual site at lesotholink.org it took them to the other link which featured the graphic content.

The incorrect link appears to be an old domain which has since changed hands, according to the Mirror.

Buckingham Palace has fixed the mistake but has thus far refused to comment on the matter.

The strange error comes in the midst of numerous scandals in the royal family, including the departure of Prince Harry, and the growing suspicion surrounding Prince Andrew’s involvement with multiple billionaire pedophiles, including Jeffrey Epstein and fashion tycoon Peter Nygard.

Prince Harry’s friend, JJ Chalmers, made a strange comment on BBC’s The One Show on January 10, saying that Harry likely made the decision to step back from the royal family to “protect his family,” but Chalmers would not elaborate on what—or who—Harry would actually be protecting his family from.

Inside sources have told reporters that the “monarchy has never been seen in such a bad state.”

“Am I Going to Jail?” – Cops Take 6-Year-Old to Mental Health Facility Without Parental Consent (Video)

0

The mother of a 6-year-old Florida girl wants answers after her daughter was taken to a mental health facility following an incident at her elementary school.

According to her mother, Nadia Falk was traumatized by the experience of being involuntarily committed to a mental health facility last Tuesday.

The day began much like any other when Martina Falk sent her daughter to class at Love Grove Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida. But Martina was ultimately unable to see her daughter until Thursday afternoon, at the conclusion of a mandatory 48-hour hold.

Then, a couple of hours later, I got a call saying that she is so uncontrollable that they had to Baker Act her,” Falk explained. “They called me and said ‘Ms. Falk we’re calling to let you know that there’s nothing else we could do.’ There’s nothing else you could do for my 6-year-old? When she was taken to that hospital to be locked away in this isolation, seclusion room. They said they did that as an attempt to calm her down. My baby was scared. She wanted me.”

Martina says that 6-year-old Nadia was handcuffed before being taken away however, last week Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) told Action News Jax that the principal never saw the girl in handcuffs. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) also maintains that Nadia was never in handcuffs. Nadia was heard asking: “Am I going to jail?” after the police were called in.

DCPS said in a statement:

At no time, did the principal see the child placed in handcuffs. Once staff and the mental health therapist were able to deescalate the behavior, the child was escorted out of the school calmly holding hands with the principal and the police officer to the police officer’s vehicle. While we must always protect student privacy, I can tell you that Baker Acting a student is a medical intervention that is initiated upon evaluation by either a law enforcement officer or a licensed mental health professional based on specific criteria according to Florida Statute. In many cases, it is initiated by a mental health professional.”

According to her mother, Nadia was heavily sedated while at River Point Behavioral Health.

During a press conference, Martina told reporters that she was not intending to file a lawsuit. Instead she is seeking answers from the school and River Point Behavioral Health about what exactly happened to Nadia that day.

Honestly, I just want to let the school systems know that this is not OK. If you have a child with any type of disability, they deserve an education. They don’t deserve to be hauled away like an animal,” Martina said. “That’s not a place for children. It’s a place for no one.”

In 2017, Nadia was diagnosed with ADHD and is currently taking medications as a result of her special needs as she awaits the results of an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) evaluation.

According to DCPS, a third-party licensed mental health professional made the decision to enforce the Baker Act after which law enforcement drove the 6-year-old to the hospital. Nadia’s mother said she was not informed of the situation until after the decision was made.

JSO reports that Nadia was attacking staff, destroying school property, running out of the school, and was acting generally out of control.

If it’s a pattern of behaviors, then they should Baker Act, but if it’s isolated then we have to allow the parent to make a judgment call and say he or she would be ok at home let me take them home,” Dr. Amit Vijapura, a board-certified psychiatrist, said.

However, Nadia’s mother was never involved in the decision. “That’s not acceptable. I deserve to know whether my daughter was being difficult that day or not. She’s helpless,” Martina said. “I was assured they would take care of her and they had staff specifically trained to help her and this is the help I get—a psychiatric hospital.”

On Thursday, body camera footage of the incident was released showing Nadia waking to a police cruiser holding the hand of a female officer. Some of the footage is redacted and other parts are inaudible.

In a second video released by police from inside the cruiser, Nadia asks the officer if she has something to eat. The female officer can be heard telling another officer, “I think they may have agitated her a little bit.”

  • Female officer: “Follow me just in case. But, she hasn’t — she’s actually been very pleasant. Right? Very pleasant. I think they’re pushing the button, because when I got there she’s been so cooperative with me and talking, sat down, did everything.”

  • Male officer: “Yeah. You poke the bear one too many times, it’s going to scratch you.”

  • Female officer: “Yeah. Because they said this is the fourth out of five days she’s been acting like this.”

In response to the footage, the family’s attorney, Reganel Reeves, said:

She had a tantrum. 6-year-olds have tantrums. 6-year-olds with special needs have tantrums. The school knew about her tantrums. The police officer had no independent basis to take this child for Baker Act.

What medical basis did they have to give this child anti-psychotic medicines? That’s what we need to know.”

Martina Falk told News4Jax:

She’s my everything and I love her, and I’ll do anything to protect her and other children with disabilities.”

Despite what Martina previous said, Reeves now says, “I think it’s quite clear that a lawsuit needs to be filed.”

Coronavirus: Disturbing Footage Shows Residents Dragged from Home

1

Shocking footage has emerged online showing suspected coronavirus patients being forcefully taken away from their flat in China.

In the video, officials in protective suits can be seen dragging away a man and a woman, while behind them a man lying on the ground is trying to resist being carried away.

The family of three had refused to self-quarantine after having returned to their home in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, from Hubei Province, whose capital Wuhan is the epicentre of the outbreak.

A woman is heard screaming as she is dragged down a hallway by men in hazmat suits.

As the man struggles to break free, three people carry him down a flight of stairs before the footage comes to an end.

The shocking video was shared to Radio Free Asia’s Twitter feed which alleged the three suspected patients were residents of Kunshan, Jiangsu who refused to comply with officials attempting to put them into isolation.

The exact situation unfolding in the video remains unconfirmed, but it comes as reports claim Wuhan authorities have begun going door to door checking temperatures and rounding up suspected patients for forcible quarantine in stadiums and exhibition centres serving as warehouses for the sick.

The men forcefully removing the suspected patients were all wearing hazmat suits.

It’s been alleged that Chinese officials have also began arresting those who refuse to wear face masks.

More than 720 people have now died from the virus while at least 34,500 are infected across 27 countries, with five British nationals testing positive in the French Alps today.

Vice-premier Sun Chunlan, who has been put in charge of the national campaign against the coronavirus, reportedly said Wuhan and the rest of the country was facing ‘wartime conditions’. She said: ‘There must be no deserters, or they will be nailed to the pillar of historical shame forever.’

Friday marked the deadliest day for the illness in China, with 86 people tragically losing their lives. Up to 60 million people are said to be quarantined as the country desperately tries to stop the spread of the virus. An American citizen became the first foreigner confirmed to die from the illness in China today, while a Japanese man has also passed away after experiencing symptoms consistent with the virus. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced this week that 150 Britons would be flown back from Wuhan on Sunday on one final UK-chartered rescue flight.

“Window Into Hell” – Mother of Five Dies After Four Days in Solitary Confinement

0

A 45-year-old mother of five with bipolar disorder was experiencing “a mental health episode” in late December of 2017 and needed more help than her family could provide. Her husband, Reynaldo Rodriguez, dialed 911 from their home in SeaTac, Washington and told the dispatcher that his wife needed a doctor.

Reynaldo, who is not fluent in English, communicated to the dispatcher using an interpreter that he was not calling to report a crime but was calling instead to request medical help for his wife, Damaris Rodriguez. Despite what he told the dispatcher, police showed up to their home before an ambulance.

With the help of an interpreter, Reynaldo spoke to KIRO 7 about what happened that day:

I told them, she doesn’t need to go to jail. She needs to go to a hospital.

Reynaldo told deputies that his wife was hearing “voices in her head, becoming abnormally agitated, experiencing extreme anxiety and paranoia.

According to lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court Western District of Washington by Damaris’ family two years after her tragic death, the arrival of the police “set in motion a tragic series of events that led Damaris to SCORE and to her eventual death.”

The lawsuit states that the mother of five’s “death followed four days of inexcusable neglect and appalling conditions at the South Correctional Entity Jail (“SCORE”) that can only be described as torturous.”

From the moment Damaris Rodriguez was carried into the SCORE jail in handcuffs, her every move was captured on surveillance video. As the family prepared for the lawsuit, their attorney reviewed the disturbing footage. Damaris was first dragged into a booking cell and left along lying face down on the floor. She was moved into her cell a short 20 minutes later where she paced in circles.

Less than 24 hours later Damaris was naked, pacing, crawling on the floor, and vomiting.

Nate Bingham, a lawyer representing Reynaldo and his five children, reviewed the footage that he described as “a window into hell.”

According to Bingham, the mother of five “was sick, she was hallucinating, and she was dying.” Despite these obvious signs of distress, no one knows exactly when Damaris died because it appears no one was paying close attention to her.

After she stopped breathing, it was awhile before anyone even noticed her,” Bingham said.

Bingham has shared clips of the disturbing surveillance video with the media. He believes the footage clearly shows that Damaris spent “four days alone in a cell, naked, surrounded by her own urine and vomit” as she fought “both mentally and physically against her own hallucinations.”

According to a report from NBC, “Rodriguez was observed vomiting, stumbling in circles, grabbing her genitalia, spinning in circles, lying on her face, throwing food and displaying other erratic behavior, but she was never attended to.”

Shockingly, during that entire four day period Damaris was never arraigned. The lawsuit states that the 45-year-old “was never arraigned for—let alone convicted of—a crime. She was never even taken to court.

Staff at SCORE violated federal law that states an inmate must be charged with a crime or released within 72 hours by keeping her for more than 106 hours.

She was never taken in front of a judge,” Bingham explained. “Damaris spent the next four days descending into insanity, becoming sicker and sicker and eventually her body shut down and she died.”

It is impossible to know how long Damaris may have remained behind bars without charge had she not ultimately died after four days of solitary confinement.

Bingham contends that jail staff “should have taken her to a hospital right away,” adding, “if a mentally ill person can’t participate in an examination, there’s a problem.”

Unfortunately, as the lawsuit states, “Taking an arrestee to a jail is much faster, easier, and requires less paperwork than taking an arrestee to a hospital.”

According to the family’s lawsuit, “numerous recent in-custody deaths connected to SCORE,” and that “people of color, such as Damaris Rodriguez, have died at a disproportionately high rate.
